I'm 19, have a strong interest in computers, and decided to major in political science instead becasue I just didn't see a market for IT skills 4 years down the line, so I"m game. Do you have any leads as to which areas are going to have the most growth opportunity? (cabintetry, plumbing, etc.)
yeah, Havok is just for the phyics, nonetheless it's pretty sweet. I have fond memories of killing small children by bouncing basketballs off the wall and into the backs of their heads in Deus Ex 2 (which used said physics engine)
I, and quite a few other people have in the last few months. Expect some sob story about how they were just using the gaim code as a placeholder for a couple months while they wrote their own client, and then the programmer screwed them over and took off with the code.
Actually, Canola is differentiated from Rapeseed by having 2% Erucic Acid content, thus being safe for human consumption. Also, it stands for "CANadian Oil, Low Acid". Dammned yanks get the credit for everything...
I've always thought the ultimate use of genetic engineering would be to make puberty-free, Permacute puppies and kittens. Not only is it a lucrative market, there wouldn't be worries about the altered genes entering the natural ecosystem because of the sterility.
Actually, they just announced the D2X as their new flagship unit a couple weeks ago with a 12 Megapixel DX format sensor. This seems to be Canon's "In your face, bitches" move, and they're probably hoping to regain some of the mindshare they lost to the D70 (although the D70 is targeted at a different market segment than either of these über-leet pro models). On a personal note, I'm hoping to pick up a D70 in the next few months, especially with the way CF prices have dropped through the floor lately.
I don't think you'll really have to worry about WinFS. They've already pushed it back to the release after Longhorn, and the basic idea has been in development since the NT 3.5 days. It's the Duke Nukem Forever of the applications world.
This is not your website. It's not their website either. It's everyone's, even those people who have yet to read it, or this article, or this particular repeat of this article. And that's a good thing.
Actually, I think lately it's been Rolay Piquepalle's website. Maybe they should put his name at the top, like fark does with that drew carey guy
I tried that once... It turned out that she was an aol usesr and it was also her email address, so a few university directory, reverse phone-lookup, mapquest and terraserver queries later, I had aerial photos of her house. Then I drew her into conversation about the dangers of ever more prolific databases in our society and the corrolary loss of privacy, demonstrated my methods, and got "OMG! Cool!" in response. A few months later we accidentally went through security at a military base on our way to see Fahrenheit 9/11. Ahh, paranoid love.
No it wouldn't, it's a different architecture that only runs x86 code through emulation... and said emulation is dog-slow. The only people that would buy it for their workstation would be scary, cheeto encrusted geeks.
I see where you're coming from, but nobody will ever play the level if it''s always going to come out brutally one-sided. Now if they release a patch that keeps the balance the same, but adds a rebel win condition of, say "survive for x minutes" or "protect the transports for x minutes", that would be a pretty fun and unique break from the other levels...
I've noticed that gaim's CPU burn really takes off when there are a lot of conversations open in tabs. When I get to around 12 tabs, it's using something like 25% of my athlon 2000, but drops back when I switch them into seperate windows. Odd.
Goddamit, I'd like to have the nice big gentleman with the Colt shoot the moron that first thought of calling these little slips of paper "reciepts".
The whole point of having them is for the voter can confirm her vote, and then put it in a ballot box as with current election technology. Of course, people are stupid, and some of them would carry their "recount chit" off with them, or in fact use it as proof of voting for candidate X, so we put the printer behind a piece of glass and don't let the voter touch it. In fact, this is the method Sierra Voting Systems provided to Nevada for their recent primary elections.
This introduces another problem if implemented incorrectly though. The sierra machine uses a continuous roll of cash register style tape to record all the votes. Do the voter's results scroll completely past the window before anyone else uses the booth? Can an unscrupulous poll worker watch the order people use the booth and then check how each of them voted? What if it prints the wrong thing?
Why not build a network of telescopes on the lunar surface? 14 days without solar exposure, a stable platform, no atmosphere... seems perfect.

Polymerase Chain Reaction, and I'm just going to guess the rest are also biochem related because I'm a lazy ass.

So they're taking over Bawls?
besides, we might find a use for it someday. Radioisotopes don't grow on trees...

The Ship of the Imagination is now boarding for destination "My chances of ever getting laid"!

Right, it would take 5 lines of perl (or php) written in emacs (or vi[m])... maybe we should use these machines to settle a few coder holy wars...
It's called the Electoral College.
woo! Powell-McCain '96!!
1. Welcome our new microsoft-owned-server-slashdotting overlords

Shock and Awe...
Godwins Law on the first post? INCREDIBLE! I've seen stories about reich memorablila where that didn't happen.
