Nope I am not him! What a strange nickname, Quinn The Esckimo, I wonder where it came from.
Thanks for #linpeople I'll drop on sometime and check it out.
Maybe I'm a minority, but I use MS Windows XP at home to listen to music, watch DVDs, play games, surf the web, and (very infrequently) be productive. I download every security patch and always scan downloads. And my system has always been rock solid stable, and I've never had any kind of security breach (I use Norton Internet Security, too). Yes I payed a couple hundred for all the software (more for each game) but it's been worth it to me.
And P.S. I love Linux - I develop Linux apps for a living.
When my portable mp3 player doesn't have enough memory, I may very well shout out "ONLY ONE POINT TWENTY-ONE GIBIBYTES? GREAT SCOTT!", and yes I will be mis-pronouncing it, like "jibbybytes".

Sounds like a good opportunity for you to open a record company that let's people trade in damaged music for new! You could get rich!
Yeah, and why don't we have the right to back up our 20 dollar bills? Those suckers are expensive to replace.
How dare you steal my bandwidth while I'm busy stealing music!
... Linux is only a word. The actual kernel is the ones and zeroes that exist on some storage medium.

Advances can be made without the need for a military factor. It's called "go out and do it yourself."
You make it sound like scientific advances are mana from military heaven.
