  1. My first four letters are "pass"... And I bet you already guessed wrong what my 8-character password is! Its really "passmark", because I love benchmarking so much.

  2. The problem with this argument is if you take the entirety of Facebook as a whole as a single entity, and not broken down into their different divisions. Remember that Facebook also operates as a Tor hidden service. Their engineering units are all for using the latest and greatest of technologies, it is simply the business figureheads that put limitations on things.

  3. Their locations are powered by a mix of energy sources, not all clean. They are purchasing power in other markets that is then used my others. It is essentially a trade of energy.

They do improper tax collection, too. They list X% tax = $Y value, however absolutely no line item or combination of line items with X% would equal $Y value. Even worse, is that they list multiple percentages for various taxes, and each would have a completely different and arbitrary base value if you calculated it out, none of which actually exist on the bill. I have countless other billing issues with them too. They wouldn't do shit over the phone, even after several months. I even went directly into one of their retail outlets, and what did the guy do? Jack shit. He just picked up his phone, dialed their normal 800 number, and handed the phone to me... He didn't even try to talk to his own people first.

  7. For those that want a more detailed answer. Literally type in any CPU/GPU model name/number into Google followed by the word "Passmark" - the top result will almost certainly be the product page on the Passmark web site. Each product has a simplistic single numerical overall score. Just compare those. Passmark isn't perfect, but is accurate enough to count as a general overview for basic purchasing requirements.

nVidia is one of the top companies in the world doing artificial intelligence research and development. GPUs are no longer GPUs. They're now GPGPUs, allowing for massive parallel processing of data on their hardware. nVidia has been at the forefront of non-graphics usage of GPUs for quite some time. Obviously here on Slashdot, we're all aware of GPUs being used for crypto mining, but they're also used for a wide array of other technologies.

  15. "you shouldn't expect to game with this thing" - Well of course not, it is running a flavor of Linux. I have honestly tried doing Linux based gaming once a year or so just to see where it is at. Currently, Steam for Linux is amazing, but the content after the storefront itself just isn't. I basically had the option of a handful of indy games and Rocket League. Not much else was available, sadly. And then, the Linux gaming box was once again shelved for the next several months while I continue to play games developed for DirectX instead of OpenGL.

They're all sharks, but Bezos at least is a multi-disciplinary trained shark. This is where Amazon is succeeding where others are faltering. For instance, Bezos and other managers at Amazon take a 2-day call center training class annually. This puts the CEO and management much closer to the customers than pretty much any other major company in America. And this really does show. Sometimes things go wrong. How long does it take to fix them? If a Prime shipment is late, contact Amazon, no questions asked, and you'll get a free month of Prime. Due to a bug in Google's Profile Fi web site, my name was showing up wrong and was not editable. Contacting customer service, it took SIX WEEKS to get this resolved. There was a bug in geolocating about 6 miles of road in my city, this issue took over a year to resolve. And these are just some quick example, the list however really is endless. Other companies make it impossible to resolve disputes, whereas Amazon tries to resolve things as effortlessly as possible. This makes a world of difference.
