"What? You think I told him to destroy the network? The guy doesn't even speak English--what did you expect?"
Yes, it's cruel and unfair--but that's what makes our country great.
What they're saying is that it's illegal to give your own work away--because it doesn't belong to you. Your work belongs to your government. In Newspeak, "slaves" are known as "citizens".
You're right--but a majority wouldn't be required if our government actually followed what was written down in our Constitution. The Constitution is what protects us from democracy. Majority rule doesn't work. Opinion should not be mandated by law. We're supposed to be a republic--not a democracy.
I disagree. How was 1984 about a war on society? Despite what we've been told, the word "war" has an actual meaning. Society was part of the problem in 1984. The loss of the individual in favor of the collective.
Furthermore, we're all illiterate. We no longer understand the meaning of the word "war". We no longer understand the meaning of the word "patriot". The phrase "clean air" certainly doesn't mean what I was taught it meant. Certainly, the current meaning of the word "freedom" eludes me.
I think Iraq would have come up with a constitution much more quickly if they had known they're completely meaningless.
I love that attitude. You needn't worry unless you're a criminal, huh? Maybe I'm into scat. That's legal. It doesn't mean I want my government to know about it.
The law is not useless. It gives government the RIGHT to infringe on your privacy. It gives them the RIGHT to try and break your encryption. It gives them the RIGHT to treat you like a suspect.
This is our government. It's not supposed to be Us vs. Them.
Interesting.. It seemed so wrong when it was happening to my grandparents in Cuba. As a child, I was told to watch what I say (I was nine) when writing to my grandparents because my mail would be read by the Cuban government. At the time, I thought it was the craziest thing in the world--but it seems Americans are getting used to this sort of thing. Unfortunately, encryption wasn't an option. The Cuban government took my grandfather's secret decoder ring.
Dear GOD! I was worried about The Patriot Act, government control by big business and special interest groups, outrageous taxes, and the rise of fascism...and now I find out there are BOY BANDS in the future?!
I'm somewhat worried about government snooping--and am therefore labelled as paranoid by my friends who are supporters of big government. But I can't imagine that my concern can be labelled as paranoia--I'm not spending all my money to find out what the government's doing--I'm spending it on taxes.
In a new report issued this week, eight-track and Atari 2600 game sales are down. Industry leaders blame rampant piracy and MAME.

Voice actors? Come on. My neighbor can do six of those voices. Most everyone on Slashdot can do that Simpsons comic-book guy without even trying.
If you read this book, then look no further for the explanation--this is why nobody wants to date you.

He constantly refers to his cell-phone as an "employee-owned" technology. I think that means it's his.
Pants are an employee-owned technology. They're your personal pants and not for business use. That'll fox 'em.

Here's a conspiracy theory for you: All "money" is backed by nothing more than faith. Luckily, that's a resource this country has in abundance.
