    Verisign abuses its power as a domain registry to get mistyped host names.. but any registry could do that now. What if multiple registries did that? Web browsers would become all confused as to which DNS entry is right?

    Most banks have card swippers and numeric keyboards at each teller. So you go to the teller, she tells you to swipe your card and enter your pin, when the computer tells her you're all good, she gives you the money. Just like an ATM...

    I worked for a Sympatico outsourcer and while not as bad as this article, I saw very similar things. What drives people away is not the calls but the targets. Average call time must be as low as possible, you have to follow pre-written scripts even if you know it's not going to solve the problem, if you don't know it's better to tell them it's not supported than to call and wait on hold for the second tech support line.

    I thought most network engineers had EE degrees not CS ones. At least if you work with the low level network stuff like ATM, fiber, sonet rings, etc
