  2. Carriers on Trolltech Woos Developers with 'Open' Linux Phone · · Score: 1

Anyone in the states who buys the phone just needs to make sure that the phone is either quad band or, if it is a tri-band only, make sure that the area you are in has the 1900MHz coverage and pop your SIM in. Once that's done, there may be an issue configuring voicemail, WAP configs and the like but that's a 2 minute job. Course this requires one of the GSM based carriers (Stingular or T-Mobile).

My only beef with the linux based phones is the lack of useful apps (yeah, like spell-check). I own the Motorola e680i which is a good phone to listen to radio or mp3s but as far as business apps go, the choices are non existent.

No it isn't. Does Red Hat not sell a form of linux? As was stated numerous times, Red Hat is the top selling distro in the United States. He (Schwartz) even stated what he meant (find the link, i'm not going to beat the dead horse to an even bloodier pulp by reposting anything else) by his statement. If we have a beef with Sun, make sure it's a valid one and not based upon someone's misinterpretation.

As much as I don't like Schwartz, he's talking about sales, not who owns linux. The use of "Red Hat's Linux" is used to distinguish which version of linux he's referring to, not to whom it belongs.

This is true for anyone out of the military. Reason being is because employers look for military due to their ability to follow instructions and the discipline the should have learned whilst serving.

Also, it isn't hard to earn more after the military since the salary of an e-4 is about 16-17k (not including medical). You could get more working part time at Ikea

****GM vs MICROSOFT***** At a recent computer expo (COMDEX), Bill Gates reportedly compared the computer industry with the auto industry and stated: ''If GM had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving twenty-five dollar cars that got 1000 miles to the gallon.''

In response to Bill's comments, General Motors issued a press release stating (by Mr Welch himself):

If GM had developed technology like Microsoft, we would all be driving cars with the following characteristics:

    1. For no reason whatsoever your car would crash twice a day.

    2. Every time they repainted the lines on the road you would have tobuy a new car.

    3. Occasionally your car would die on the freeway for no reason, and you would just accept this, restart and drive on.

    4. Occasionally, executing a maneuver such as a left turn, would cause your car to shut down and refuse to restart, in which case you would have to reinstall the engine.

    5. Only one person at a time could use the car, unless you bought ''Car95'' or ''CarNT.'' But then you would have to buy more seats.

    6. Macintosh would make a car that was powered by the sun, reliable, five times as fast, and twice as easy to drive, but would only run on five per cent of the roads.

    7. The oil, water temperature and alternator warning lights would be replaced by a single ''general car default'' warning light.

    8. New seats would force everyone to have the same size butt.

    9. The airbag system would say ''Are you sure?'' before going off.

    10. Occasionally for no reason whatsoever, your car would lock you out and refuse to let you in until you simultaneously lifted the door handle, turned the key, and grab hold of the radio antenna.

    11. GM would require all car buyers to also purchase a deluxe set of Rand McNally road maps (now a GM subsidiary), even though they neither need them nor want them. Attempting to delete this option would immediately cause the car's performance to diminish by 50% or more. Moreover, GM would become a target for investigation by the Justice Department.

    12. Every time GM introduced a new model car buyers would have to learn how to drive all over again because none of the controls would operate in the same manner as the old car.

    13. You'd press the ''start'' button to shut off the engine.

We seem to forget that it was congress that cut NASA's budget by $1.1 billion dollars for FY 2005. So, although they may still have $15.1 billion, that's enough for the Mars Rover and the Shuttle program and that's probably it. The funds it would require to QA to the level of an upside down sensor may have been in that $1.1 bill that our friends on Capitol Hill so conveinetly directed towards other things, probably even the Reagan/Bush desire for the "Star Wars Ballistic Missile Defense System".

Yes, the human factor was there but without suffiencent funds to pay for the time it would require such in depth Q&A, can the failure be totally blamed on NASA?
