  1. Re:One local mail tree? on Mozilla Thunderbird 0.6 Released · · Score: 4, Insightful

Whoever modded your post as flamebait needs to get a clue. Its not flamebait, its the truth. If they want people to switch from OE they need to add a single mail tree. Period. I am another one that won't switch until they do.

Another thing that annoys me, not quite enough to keep me from using it if they do the local mail tree thing, is the assuming of outgoing mail server. It assumes on every account you add after the first that it will use the first's outgoing mail server. That is NOT something that should be assumed, it should be a selectable OPTION with the ability to add a new outgoing mailserver for that account.

I'll probably get modded as flamebait as well, but to me this new version did absolutely nothing. Yeah I'm sure they fixed bugs and tweaked it a bit, but I don't see how that little bit of stuff warranted a new version.

I know others have said it, but really, if people don't like it they don't have to use it. Nobody is being forced in the least. There are plenty of other free email providers. The big comeback to that so far has been, "but what if I have to send an email to someone on GMail". You can't pick the phone service provider for a person you call, just like you can't pick a person's email provider for them. If you are that paranoid and whatever you are sending needs to be soooo private, then I doubt you'll want to be sending to a free email address of any kind anyway. I swear, some people just bitch to hear themsevles bitch.

I own a few domains and I never put the right phone number in. I also have an email address strictly set aside for domains only - which catches TONS of spam, and I tend to catch a little bit of snail mail spam as well - usually from the same company that tries to trick people into switching to them and paying $25+ a year. I hate the way that whois info is public though, and you have to pay (usually more than the price of the domain where I register domains) to make it private. It should be automatically private, at no cost. Someone above mentioned something about the reason that is there is for complaints and such - well I just happen to have an idea that could fix that problem easily. Make any complaints or inquiries go through the registrar. Kind of like a registrar private messaging system. It might seem like a lot, but I think it is little to ask to help stop the whois info harvesting and millions of spam emails that get sent as a result of it. ICANN already has a ton of requirements that registrars have to meet, why not one more.

As for addressing your issues. I did. The rest were just rhetorical troll garbage as far as I could tell. I didn't call you a troll because you don't like Firefox, I called you one because you don't like Firefox yet you are here trying to force your opinions about it on others.
