BTW... I remember you. I was working in the compiler department when you were building that test suite management system. You had a minor run-in with a very young and somewhat dickish engineer. A 1005HA with Windows 7 starter on Amazon.com: US$336. Same system with Windows XP Home: US$312. Difference: US$24. Subtract that from the US$50 estimate OEM price in the ars technica article and the remainder would be the price Asus is charging for XP home: US$26.

I was an adopted child and never once believed my "real" parents were royalty. I remain unaffected by similar fantasies later in life.
That said, many elderly do not have the cognitive function required to identify these scams for what they are... many suffer at the hands of these fraudsters and deserve neither jail, nor the financial loss.
I often think of the show (especially with Bionic Woman in remake...) and ponder "only six million dollars?"
How rapidly our expectations rise while the real dollar drops...
TiVoToGo can easily fill a video iPod with perfectly legal recordings transfered from a TiVo for no additional cost beyond the TiVo setup and a copy of the TiVo Desktop Plus package. You can save a little money by not buying the Plus package if you already have software that can do the transcoding for you.
Podcasts, etc, can cost nothing, as well...
It will become scarce, it will live on in the wild, and it will mutate to become resistant.

So, how long before I can buy a "Ta Su Lo" from one of those lock-ups in the neighborhood next Beijing's Pearl Market?

Showbiz types generally hate hanging endings. I'll guess fans will be disappointed with it being "reimagined".
If I wanted to watch down-converted recordings, I wouldn't have FiOS.

I have found the Ubuntu Community Documentation to be pretty good for cookbook procedures. Their forums pick up the slack for acute issues.
