I work as sys admin at a dept. of my University. One of the teachers was having trouble getting a powerpoint to open. It seems she had used Office XP at home to create it, but for some reason Office 2003 at the school would not open it. I opened it with Open Office just fine though....problem solved.
Just because OO isn't always perfectly compatible with Office doesn't mean anything since MS Office isn't even compatible with itself sometimes...

I miss Next Generation. It was the best gaming mag ever... it was mature and insightful, two features missing from all the "modern" mags. Play's about the closest we have to it these days and it's still far from the quality Next Gen used to bring us.
I have a friend who did some of the character models for the game. I can't believe it's taken them this long to announce it (found out almost a year ago)...lol. Anyway, the game's using the Doom3 engine. And last time I checked Duke4's using some version of the Unreal engine along with Meqon...I hope they stick with what they had and don't push it back another 5 years with the Unreal3 engine now:/
I have no problem with the fees, I just think it's a little too high. They could easily afford to make it $10 a month with the million or so subscribers they have...
...and no, this isn't really part of the "messed up stuff", but it's important to me as it's my chosen industry.
I bet the PS3 gets launched,released...whatever in Japan right before Christmas this year, and then we'll (the USA) probably get it Spring 2006. As with Sony's past release date's, they'll probably try to pick some clever date to release it...maybe they'll go for June 6th;)
"Dude, there are bigger issues in the world than being charged $15 a month to play a game that is hosted on Blizzards servers."
Well, those other topics belong in other threads... Besides this is not just about Blizzard and WoW's pricing... these trends are in all the other aspects of life right now. There's alot of messed up stuff going on around the world, and no one seems to care. That's my problem.
The politics section is probably more under used than the games actually. As long as all sides are getting a fair say, people having opinion pieces isn't a bad thing. Just because someone says something you disagree with doesn't mean you shouldn't consider it at least. No one is always right.
Just because you want to act like cattle doesn't mean I can't try and talk some sense into you. Sorry, but I'm sick of the apathetic attitude eveyone has today. "EA's screwing the industry...oh well...I'll just keep buying their shitty games anyway". "MMORPGs (not just WoW) are over charging us, guess we should just bend over because we have no say in the matter..." Activism is not a bad thing. Besides, this time I knew it was pretty much just a joke anyway because of all the stubborn people who refuse to listen to any opinions besides their own. In other news, I'll shut up when I see some change...
The Xbox controler type-S is my favorite controller out of the current big 3 (Gamecube's being second). I hope they don't change it too much except for the stupid start, back, black and white buttons. Then again I kind of liked the original Xbox controller too. The idea of being able to get my controllers in multiple sizes is kind of nice...
I know for alot of people that will just play WoW, and in the long term will save money by not buying anything else...but I've got a short attention span;) I think if Blizzard offered some sort of WoW Lite plan, I'd get it.... like $10 a month for 30 hours of play (as opposed to the 15 for unlimited). One hour a day is probably more than enough for me. I'm also of the opinion that they shouldn't charge a full $50 for the game since you end up having to pay a perpetual service fee anyway...maybe if it were only $20 or better yet free;)
I kind of like what the Guild Wars guys are doing with the $50 game but with free online play, but I don't think that's going to be a very successful business model.
I won't read MS Works files (yes, people still use it sadly enough)....but then again, neither will Word ;)

Great...now I have to wait for GCC 4.2 :P

I haven't had any trouble with my users using Citrix on their restricted accounts. I didn't have to jump thru any hoops or anything, it just worked.
Fine, how about gas prices reaching all time highs? You think it's silly of me to try to walk or ride a bike instead of driving whenever possible too?

I still wouldn't be that surprised if Sony and Nintendo both tried to get their systems out this year too though.

It's only "redundant" when multiple people are saying the same thing, at which point I'll be fine with stopping ;)
Wouldn't you be facing the same direction if you turned 360 degrees? What is this saying? More of the same?
I explained it pretty thoroughly in the past...

Okhama Gamesphere ;)

No, but the revolution might have 1080 ;)
Didn't we do away with the ugly white/grey/beige console trend with this last generation? Why are they trying to bring that ugliness back?
See post above
How about the numerous independent games that get overlooked by the mainstream gaiming sites?

Is it still $50 + $15/month? Oh well, still not gonna play it then... ;P
Well there goes about 90% of all the hope I had built up inside...
