They should have done the Opera webrowser, the QUASI-opensource program. It is a commercial company but has an opensource like community (especially cause you can use for free).
As an aside, it would be interesting if Opera went fully opensource someday.

Its funny. The part of NJ that is messed up is Newark right accross from New York. I went to Philadelphia on vacation from Alaska and always heard crap about NJ, then I drove through on the way to the Newark Airport. I was puzzled as on up to the Newark, it was all green and pretty. I asked my friend and he said it was just that the New Yorkers look out at Newark which has refiners and manufacturing plants, and they have been publishing a bad rap for the whole state for years. Kinda funny really.

Yeah, why they didn't just put up metal siding is beyond me. It would block the wave just the same as that metal they put up, but be safer. I understand them being forced to take it down cause the way they put up was half assed at best.

I totally agree with your first comments. I just have the hardest time seeing how people would like to live in the concrete asphault monsters you call cities. Having people packed in soooo tight, with out even having a hint of nature. For example, New York has that big park in it. It is like a museum of what nature is supposed to be. Its like they are saying "this is what we paved over. Aren't you soooo happy?", which I don't get at all. I look at them and it seems like they broke their state and don't realize it. I sure hope the developers don't break my Alaska.

I always find it odd that most lower 48'rs seem delighted that they have sales taxes and high state income tax. I think they are stupid that way. You tell them, once the politicians get their fingers in something like that, they keep taking and taking. And they wonder why they have high taxes.
We on the other hand tax our big businesses so it doesn't hit the little guys. Then we even have some left over to share with people. You think someplace like california with all that big business would take the load of citizens and place it on the big companies.
My ISP requires you to send mail via their server and has the port blocked. This prevents me from my google acccounts sending/getting my email via SMTP. Will this create a way for us to get our google or other mail through?
As long as I can get my http://wholewheatradio.org/ the commercial radio stations can go straight to HELL! This radio station has a firm anti-RIAA stance and won't play songs that are part of RIAA. Suprisingly that (listening to lesser known musicians) and the lack of commercials make this about 10 times better than any commercial radio station I have ever heard.
Then you get into the site and find the creator of this (Jimbob) is a former geek programer. His site streams in a number of formats, embraces podcasting, and has tracks an amazing array of stats. The site has an online interactive chat that is integral to part of the radio station itself, where listeners can rate music, post comments to the DJ's, or even call in an leave a message on the show. Add to the chat that it has a digital (dj free) request format, where you can request songs and they are autmatically cued up an played.
I could see other people duplicating this station in other music formats as it creates a community atmosphere (rare for radio) that gets listeners to know one another from around the globe. The station feverishly promotes true musicians, not the big overproduced pop crap. The more you listen and also watch the chat page, the more you get drawn into this little community of music lovers. Even having to switch back to TV where I have to Tivo through commercials is annoying. I highly suggest you check it out.
How can you not LOVE a radio station running out of a small cabin in Talkeetna, Alaska?
The theory behind hunting in more wilderness areas is that you hunt to put food in the freezer. Also, hunting regs in Alaska say that it has to be a fair chase and hunt. For example, flying and hunting the same day are illegal. I am of the mind that you shouldn't hunt if you aren't going to use what you get. Same for fishing.
I saw in a few articles about this that they claimed to be the first podcasting radio station. I DON'T think so. Heck, here in Alaska a for profit radio (currently/barely) station Whole Wheat Radio http://wholewheatradio.org/ has been going for years. True, they call their podcasts are ALSO called Audio Magazines, but they are going out podcast style.
Sadly, I suspect that may be true. Of course at some point if live tracking was a true option, we could keep track of where all the bears are as well. Have a satelite alarm set for when a bear gets within a hundred feet of you.
Point the Hubble at that sucker. Either we find out a bunch of neat sciency things, or we find out its Admiral Thrawns secret hidden research facility. Either way its a win!
I wonder when Google will just go full out and create free satelite tracking software. You can look at it from the Tin-foil hat view or the Silver Lining view. From the good point of view, we are seeing situations were people or groups would find it VERY cool to be tracked live via satelites. Defining the legality would be a pain, but consider going on a camping trip and having family members being able to check on you at any time to see you are all right, or expeditions like this one have people to track their progress LIVE. An interesting concept to say the least...
I just gripe about sites and M$ users creating a system that is not standards compliant for the alternative software I like to use (Opera). Other than that I try to help friends see the light, but if they are not intersted, I don't care.
This is disgraceful. Our country is supposed to be about a government for all by all. Selecting party siding judges is one thing, but this is just wrong.
I hope a lawsuit against the admin comes out of this setting things right.
Wow, earlier this year I was debating this very topic. If Adobe bought Macromedia or vice versa. The idea that Photoshop and the Dreamweaver suite were bundles and had better interoperability. Cool, but I wished the buyout was the other way around.
Simple. Just create a new bill banning Congress from giving news conferences, emailing, XMLing, or posting out government info in any way. You see, they are competing with political news organizations. Congress shouldn't compete, or duplicate all the info we can get from commercial radio, news, and online organizations. Plus it means we won't have to listen to their B.S.
It appeared from the advertisements that they removed the towel for hitchiking, to using a thumb? Is this true. If so, I cannot see HOW this movie could be any good. The books could be summed up with hitchiking with a dirty towel. Sigh...

There are electrical, sewer, and heating co-ops and they are perfectly legal. Seems its just a problem when they are Government owned.
