    Well if its anything like hotmail's virus scanning, it'l bock 80% of executables anyway (and i mean c++ executables that dont write do anything other than a simple input to screen > maths on input data > output to screen

    no, it would be quicker, as the graphics card would be doing the window drawing and whatnot, freeing up the processor for what ever your running in your xterms, i mean cmd.exe windows

    if they build it into internet explorer, how long before somebody finds a bug in the jpeg library that allows for a webpage to beable to set fire to your graphics card with a simple javascript?

    but seriously, rendering a GUI with the GPU is a good thing.

    is seen as the openbsd of browsers, and should be developed that way. There are enough features for it to survive for a while, if the developers just start concentrating on security.

    Security is the main advantage of firefox over IE (to most people anyway), so the devs should focus on security a lot more.

    the problem with mplayer, my guess, would be that it runs with a very low nice value, so it is probably either suid root or spawned from such an application.

    For those who dont know, a nice value is like a priority, the lower the value, the higher the priority, and you need root to decrease a nice value to prevent DOS attacks

    I was joking, but there's is a plugin for gaim that allows you to filter your outgoing text, so you can type in bollocks and have it turn into real english, maybe i should set it up for my sister so i can understand her cool way of speaking.
