    i was in college today, and the machine i was on had a res of 640x480

    fortunately it has a vb compiler and the restriction on resultion in NT doesn't work if you use API calls. hooray for the only 1024x768 res in the room.

    it was php and mysql. im not claiming to be "uber-3133t" or anything, but his step-son is the greatest computer genius ever to have walked the earth because of his amazing programming skills. He programs VB in his spare time and i think he's a techie.

    i program in VB (although im learning C++), but i would be embarrased if anybody thought i was godly because of it (see my sig for some stuff i wrote in vb).

    ARGH! I made a website for my mums boss last year. He was such an arsehole. He was convinced that computers were easy to use, programming is easy and all that crap. What topped it off, is despite computers being so easy, the only way he knew of opening outlook was to open internet explorer and click on the envelope at the top. i hate people.

    according to hauppauge's website, it worked out the box on red hat 7.1 (afaik)

    why not have the root DNS servers block pornographic sites, and redirect them to a "dirty bastard, we've logged your IP - expect a visit from mr pig" website - it could propagate to the whole internet within 48 hours. i know we are talking individual sites/virtual serverts, so block the entire site if they host kiddie porn. if its tripod or whatever, just tip them off to remove the sites or they'l get blocked too.

    obv people could use IP addresses, but people could go through a web proxy using this method. i bet most paedo's wouldn't even know what an IP is anyway.

    (by the way, i used caps lock to type IP)

    2) if theyre hosted outside the country, especially in a country with no laws on child porn (or countries that the laws aren't enforced

    good point - if me and my g/f wanted to make a few quid from some sicko's, we could film ourselves having sex, and act a bit like its a rape - we're both overage and the act is perfectly legal. If i was a sicko who fantasized about rape, and my girlfriend didn't mind, we could role play - you cant have sex with kids legally, at all, ever.

    you should buy it because its good (definately worth it). if you dont want to - live with the small text ads at the top.

    so you dont donate to open source projects then, and you only use free software because its free(loader), not because its free(dom)?

    if you buy opera, it goes away, forever/

    also, you can read RSS feeds on a pane (i use it for slashdot and the register). there's integrated mail and the tabz system is great.

    i couldn't live without opera anymore.

    when freeserve depreciated one of their dial-up numbers, all attempts to access port 80 were forwarded to their http server on a page which explained how to change the number, and what to. - they blocked all other connections i think.

    pain in the arse, but it could be useful if the same kind of thing was implemented if you were showing characteristics of running a worm, to redirect you to their free online virus scanner (or somebody elses). that way, you cant infect anybody else, but you can still use the online vius scanner to remove virus's (using an OCX).

    this will carry on working, while nearly all worms are for windows. i imagine most people with other os's wouldn't get hit, not because of higher security neccessarily, but because they wouldn't spread well in a world where 90%+ boxes are windows, and even then, the less than 10% of boxes isn't one OS - there's mac, linux, free/open/net bsd, solaris, etc.

    how much are keycard and keycard readers (and a few keycard writers for the IT dept?

    get yours in the morning using your simple ID card and give it in at night to prevent some smart arse taking it home, buying a writer and copying someone elses.
