microsoft didn't win in court - they agreed not to use apples look and feel in windows v1, which was useless because they'd already sold it. they didn't agree to any subsequent version of windows.
im sick of reinstalling nvidia's driver every time i recompile the kernel, so now i just use the standard nv driver
This is mainly because when i recompile the kernel, i might do
make xconfig ; make bzImage ; make modules ; make modules_install ; cp/usr/src/linux/arch/i386/boot/bzImage/boot/slackware ; lilo ; sleep 1m ; init 0
then configure the kernel in xconfig, then press save and close and it will compile and turn off. my girlfriend might turn on the computer the next day (especially if im not in) and not beable to use it, because the console is scary, etc
i wrote a website for a shop once, ( Houseproudlancs ) and the bloke wanted it to be easy to maintain, so i put some php script that i found on sf to edit the database, and had one picture, scaled down, for each item. The pictures were huge in size and the page took ages to load, but he wanted it to be easy to maintain.
i wonder if they'll make a spangley 3d model. if they license it out to game companies, it could pave the way for some cool new 3d games. think GTA6, in a real places
there's a GPL EULA in mandrakes install, part of the GPL is that there is no warranty and all that.
If that part of the GPL is invalid, then you should beable to do the person who's trying to claim from this on copyright infrigement (standard copyright law)
ive never had open office fuck up a file that it saved itself
MS Office on the other hand (office XP) fucks up all the assignments at my college (the boxes are always in the wrong place). this is probably something to do with the templates that the tutors use. This was with MS Office XP installed on every machine on campus
as far as i'm concerned, default windows XP is ugly, compared to a tweaked kde 3.2.2 (using plastik buttons, menun transparency and glow for the window borders, and a better colour scheme).
i dont think i'd like kde anywhere near as much as i do, if it wasn't for the useless eyecandy (although i do find it very productive, and i still quite like it on my g/f's pentium-MMX (all eyecandy turned off)
ps. im not trying to start a flame war, im just saying kde is pretty.
i had an endless reboot cycle the other day, when i compiled the kernel for Athlon/Duron rather than pentium-MMX (ssh confused me into forgetting which machine i was compiling it for).
what about people like me who have to spend 5 years in college to get a job, when i probably know enough now (after 2 years). Nobody is going to employ me because ive only got a BND. its all nice and dandy to say that you dont need FE or HE, but you try to get a first job without it.
a dot (like a full stop) over the top of a number denotes a recurring value. its not in any ascii fonts that i can see, so pretend a # denotes a full stop on top of the number before:
caldera!?!?!
;)
HERETIC!!
# do this once - presuming your using IA32 hardware
/usr/src/linux ; make xconfig ; make bzImage ; make modules ; make modules_install ; mv /boot/main /boot/failsafe ; cp /usr/src/linux/arch/i386/boot/bzImage /boot/main ; lilo ; init 6" > /usr/sbin/recompile_kernel ; chmod +x /usr/sbin/recompile_kernel
/etc/lilo.conf to point to /boot/main and /boot/failsafe, and run
echo "cd
# then append
# recompile_kernel whenever you want to recompile the kernel
i bet microsoft were behind this
oh come one, dont mod me as troll - im just doing my duty as a slashdot reader
(for humourously challenged mod's, this was a joke, be nice to my karma)

you forgot that it will phone home every time you walk past a telephone pole

the mp3 license only requires royalty to be paid for encoders, not decoders.
it is lame that is a bit iffy, legally, mpg321 is fine
1) write to isofs (stored in tmpfs partition for speed)
2) mount isofs
3) rip songs from mounted iso
4) listen without drm
5) (profit????)
you also wont be wasting time waiting for the cd to burn/rip. the burning will only take as long as writing to memory/swap
People moan about kde's eye candy. i love it.

some of the fouls he did would get you arrested if you did that in the street.

BND = btec national diploma
HND = highter national diploma
FE = further education (BND)
HE = higher education (degree, HND)

a quote i heard from a Metrowerks employee:
"I like monkeys"
ok, it wasn't a Metrowerks employee, but i like monkeys.

>>that you can't with the English system
its the american system. in england, we use metric (by law).
its illegal for shops to sell sweets in quarters over here now!
what about refillable fuel cells, so you could just fill it up with petrol or butane or something?
which could happen, if the organism migrated to different climates and whatnot.
