Quaternions are basicly used as a trick in Computer Animation , because you can "misuse" them inorder to describe a rotation as vectors. And the good part is that you can use all the Quaternion math to manipulate them ( it's fast). Also they have no problems when the first rotation is exactly around 90( with Euler Angles it kills of 1 dimension). But they aren't really used because it is by far simpler for the animator to use Euler Angles ( turn 40 at the X , 50 at the Y and 60 at the Z) .

That 100$ are needed for the family to survive. To buy animals. To buy clothes. And he is also right on the whole support issue too. What are the kids supposed to do with the "notebooks" if they can't connect to the internet and there in nobody to show them how to use it? These are kids that have quit school to help support their family. This whole thing is a stupid idea from the start , by people who have no ideawhat the 3rd world needs. And to all the people saying "you can't see how far down the list of results you are": The list doesn't end. ( well atleast for a couple million search results down the line.) 11. Apple missed the boat. on Apple Announces Wonderful Toys · · Score: 0

...Apple made a huge mistage from a marketing point of view.

First they hype the Intel Dual Core saying it is 4 times faster. OK.

Then they release the top of the line MacBooks that cost 2000$. Ok.

But here is there the trouble starts. You got people all hyped about Dual Core technology yet you only offer 2000$ machines, while in the PC market Dual Cores are starting to pop up everywhere for ALLOT less money. Example: The new Sony VAIO SZ line will launch in 10 days. A 13.3" WXGA, Dual Core , 80GB HD , 1GB RAM , "sub" notebook for 1600$ . And if you go to a normal sized notebook you can get Dual Cores at 1400$.

All the consumer is seeing now is 2 notebooks made from 2 well known companies ( Sony/ASUS/DELL , Apple) both with Intel Dual Cores but the one costs 600$ more and is lacking in some departments. So what does Apple now offer? Basicly a more expensive notebook ( because they haven't released the Intel iBook) with a different OS.

So to sum up Apple created this huge hype around Dual Core , but somehow managed to get nothing out of it. Unless they release an Intel iBook really soon , they will miss the boat completely.

Because in all honesty people have no idea what is worth donating for. This might seems a bit cruel but it is a fact. They have the right idea , just lack the interest to find out what the "world" really needs right now. People donating to Child's Play , are just people that want to do a good thing and buy something / give some money. That is great and I admire them for that. It is more then most people do. But would they donate a GameCube to a hospital somewhere , if they knew that the same 90$ would provide fresh water for a whole village in Africa and possibly save allot of lives? Or that it would provide with enough vaccine to protect 100children from common ( in the wester world) illnesses that are ( in 2rd world countries) 50% of the time lethal?

  16. That is great.. on Child's Play Approaches Half a Million Dollars · · Score: -1

..but I can't help but think that maybe the money should be split up and be given to other organisations aswell. For example 100.000$ to the MSF ( http://www.msf.org/ ) would SAVE allot of people from death. After a certain amount , around 200.000$ , you really need some people with experience organizing when and to whom the money should go. Dumping 500.000$ at once at an organisation that is not used to handling that kind of money isn't efficient .

Don't get me wrong I admire the PA guys for doing this , I just think that if this turns out to be such a big thing every year , they should change their "model" a bit.

Anyway a big bravo to everyone involved in this!

I am really tired of the "No BSOD" argument.

I have been using Windows XP Pro for 5 years without a single reformat , without ANY problems and I have never seen a BSOD. And I am trying all sorts of things on this machine. I run only LiteStep , modify the services running , pretty much that is modifiable in Windows I take advantage of.
So saying that " OMG WINXP BLUES SCREENS OF DEATHZ OLOLO!!" is simply put wrong. An experienced user will be able to setup Windows XP just as good as he will be able to setup a Linux Distro.
I recently changed my CPU , Mainboard ( which includes Network ) and Graphics card. I booted Windows and without complaining it installed everything , even though not the latest drivers ,and I had a fully functional system, WITHOUT A SINGLE RESTART.
When will I stop hearing this argument? Windows XP IS STABLE. Yes it might not be the ideal choice for running a server 24/7 for 6 years without a reboot , but that is not what WinXP is about.

Summary: Put the same amount of time that you put in configuring a Linux Distro , into configuring Windows and you will see that it runs equaly stable and FAST.

I am sorry if I trailed a bit of topic , but I can't stand that BSOD argument sorry.
