In all 3 of your "examples" you have some form of contact with the party who is mistaken. He doesn't easily have this (infact he has it, and refuses to use it)
Wait, so we bash the govement for using windows, for using faulty antivirus software, for not using any antivirus software, for not using open source, for spending too much......
Now we bash them for asking for something SENSIBLE? Just because most linux/os x users dont run it doesn't mean its s a good idea -> Most windows users don't run antivirus software and use I.E. 6......
Now... if they want one. ClamAV does both linux and windows, not sure about OS X though.
People wont change while theres nothing better to change to...
I still don't "see" these issues with google that supposidly exist, I know others dont see these issues iether who aren't as web savvy as me, but if they DO exist, it's only when something better comes along that people will switch, I tried bing..... and couldn't even get it to find microsoft security essentials when searching for mse as its normally know.
Seriously? I'm running 10 yr old hdds in some of my systems:S.
Hell at my work in our DC we have HDDs which are ~7yrs old. Its not like theres been some HUGE change which means this is difficult, it just depends if you backed up properly in the first place.
Biggest issue i've had is finding a suitable desktop system so I can format all these IDE drives we had lying about (80+ and counting). They are getting DBAN shreded then going into a skip..... So in the end I had to find a system which still has ide on board, to be able to format them, with each drive clocking around 7 hours for the "short" DBAN clear.
I'm stuck with a small shuttle PC I found, which will allow me to connect 2 hdds + the cdrom, no matter what I try it wont let me pop a 3rd in. Maybe I could get it doing USB boot to add an extra HDD but after trying for about 20minutes I gave up, sat back and enjoyed the blue and white text counting up on my screen.... Another 40+ to go when I get back to work, fun times;)
I'm not saying americans are more healthy (I find that really hard to believe), but is it possible they appear less healthy, simply because they are sent for more procedures because they are the ones paying for them?
Atm I have 1 charge on my CC, its for.... actually I wont say, thats a helpful bit of security info there! But anyway, if it went up by £9.99 - common price for.COM domain over here - I'd likely not notice....
However, if it suddenly rose by £89.99, I'd surely notice.
Or did we forget that malware works by NOT being noticed. These people are experts at staying hidden.
I mean, we can forget about war and all the bad things in life, because its not like we have painting and books depicting what happens or anything. Because we dont have a video of Bill Gates saying we only need 64kb of ram....
I think this guy got stung because he was stupid, but is now clever enough to realise he can make some money out it by becoming a "Expert on forgetfulness and the solidarity of the state of the internet". Que interviews with newspapers and tv stations.
Unless you've got a house where three walls are all glass ( in which case stfu and stop moaning already ) just simply turn by 45 degrees, if this doesn't work then turn again. Continue this until you find a place which works.
It's what I did in my office, and now I never get screen glare, as the sun rises and sets to the right of me. (*Can't be bothered to figure out what direction I am facing).
Funny how, when we don't stop anyone, and someone flies in to the side of a building, we instantly ask "why didn't security notice and stop that dodgy looking guy?!
No money to be made here, move along.

I'm serious. They wont waste the time suing places which have nothing to give up.

So not like EA then... who sell horse armour?
Oh and using a online website, whos credianitals you can't _Really_ check, and entering your "one password to rule them all". Well played. :)
A million years, or a million CPUs?
One is unlikely, the other is about $2000 away, give or take depending on if you go with the russians, chinese, or amazon. :P
1. You tell your neighbour
2. You reply,
3. You tell them while your talking to them.
In all 3 of your "examples" you have some form of contact with the party who is mistaken. He doesn't easily have this (infact he has it, and refuses to use it)
but you also don't want to bother fixing it....
Fix: Get a different email address.
According to the media, *he* has requested it.
But then again this is the same media that weren't meant to talk about it ;)
It was mostly famous people...

Our mailserver has a REAL fqdn.... mail.XXXXX.com. Its only ever refered to by this.... so how would having mail as a cert help? :/
Maybe he owns a Wii? /me points at AC.... HAHA!
V+ is £50 for the box, plus £30 setup if you have to pay it.... at least it was for me. Or does Tivo do something else I'#m not aware of?
What worries me is all you "sysadmins" who are admitting you are currently using trendMicro at all.
I have sigs turned off, you insensitive clod!
and all heads removed, *just in case*

In soviet russia, games jump YOU.
