Microsoft is trying to control the BIOS and the flash ROM with their new agreement with Phoenix. Things like this need to be stopped, so we can boot REAL operating systems like Debian.

Sick of people trashing Debian? So am I. Read the article in my sig to find out how to stop the worst offender.
Check my homepage to find out more on the brains behind the Debian trash talk.
There isn't a patch for the new exploit, and MS doesn't plan to support this, either. They only support IE6.

I'm guessing that you might have seen information on RAM rather than processors, but the numbers seem artificially inflated.
It's known that RAM that won't work at one level will work for another, all the way down to RAM used for storing voicemail in answering machines, which has failed at several levels above. Example - chips are supposed to work as 128M chips, fail the test, so they try them as 64M. If this fails, they go to 32, etc./. had a story on this last year.

It's actually SunOS 5.10. (SunOS 4.x was Solaris 1.x, SunOS 5.x was Solaris 2.x up until 2.7, then they changed it to just Solaris 7 with the underworkings of SunOS 5.7... got that?)I can't imagine they're going to break into the next major version number. (i.e. SunOS 6) but you never know.

However, what we REALLY need to do is get laws in place to shut this sort of thing down. I'm off to vote electronically....what do you mean my vote is invalid?

Wherever it is to succeed, it will need something established and stable. Debian, RedHat, SuSE. Flavors like Lindows will whither and give us bad publicity throughout the world. Robertson and his buddy Carmony spout off tons of crap, announcing vaporware but never delivering.
What we REALLY need is a strong back end, stable and secure, with apps on the desktop. That will bring the masses.
Linux needs this. Without simplification and consistency, you end up with projects that fork and don't work on everything, they might as well be proprietary.
This is absolutely dead on. I'm pretty sure you're going to start seeing CEOs of companies like Diebold LYNCHED when this gets out to the masses rather than just Slashdot.
My friends and I also do the same. Sometimes the older ways are best!

Blocking cel phones in public areas like theaters is fine. Blocking them in residential areas is not. Someone uses ham equipment in my area, and it's easy to see who, due to the 40 foot antenna in his yard. The guy is known to hate cel phones. Luckily the building inspector is looking into alleged violations turned in by an anonymous tipster *whistles innocently*
StarOffice has database capabilities. This is one of the reasons for purchasing it from Sun. It's not compatible with Access, but it is definitely an alternative.
What happens when two people think up the idea and the implementation, and get through with all of their research & testing within a few months of each other, but the announcements for both come AFTER the end of all of the work for both?
