Well, even if they confirm a collision, that doesn't mean that it can be exploited, especially if they don't release many details of how they got the collision and under what circumstances.
What are the possible rammifications if MD5 is confirmed to have a collision? What other hashing algo's are there that may take its place? And even if it does have collisions, is that serious enough to break many security systems already in place?
What you say is true. But you are wrong, it doesn't have to stay that way. Voting might not get us there, so armed revolution is the only choice. Unfortunatly, not enough people, not even people on Slashdot care enough to do anything about it. I'll admit that I too do not have the will to do anything about it, although I would like things to change. It is an incredibly difficult world we live in, and getting more difficult as technology eclipses our lives. I guess we will just have to see how long we can take it.
I guess they were really serious when they said that the stabilization of the kernel was up to the distro maintainers. Guess I won't be downloading 2.6.8 until 2.6.9 comes out.
If there is that much padding, it is probably filled with 0's, correct? Then it would be easy to tell if there was something in the program if those bytes weren't 0's. If those bytes are random to begin with, then it is more difficult to detect.
There is never going to be a new primary developement language for Linux except for the one that is already being used, C/C++. As long as the kernel is written in C, and Glibc is still the primary way of doing programming in linux, C is here to stay. Hell, you can't even write a true assembly language program in linux without using Glibc unless you know every kernel call to do what you want to do.
Dual-core processors is basically just putting 2 cpus on one die, so a one cpu dual-core computer is basically equivalent to a 2cpu computer, although there are other issues involed.
Ok, so two lawyers, lying trial lawyers at that that want to socialize America's healthcare system(which, in your opinion, may be the way to go), are any better than an MBA with less-than-honest ways of going about things? They are equal in my eyes. Until you throw in that John Edwards has no exprience at all in national security, then its a little in favor of Bush because he does have expirence, even if it isn't very good expirence. Being President through 9/11 has to count for something. Not that I'd vote for either one, I'd vote for Michael Badnarik personally.
Of course not, Hollywood sctors and crackheads are never wrong. Did I just repeat myself by implying that Hollywood actors and crackheads were somehow seperate?
The problem with paying for the certificate is that then all e-mail certificates are controlled by a central authority. Also, there is no way that the encryption scheme used for the encryption could be open, as if it was, then why pay for the certificate? Good plan, but I don't see how it would work.
There are still enterprise uses where coders need to compile huge projects from scratch that take too long on a single workstation. Instead of that build taking 15 minutes on a single workstation, they can tap the power of all the workstations and build it in a few minutes or perhaps even seconds.
Seriously, why can't they just put all vital electronic arteries inside the ship? Unless that part of the station was put on after the main section was sent into orbit, I don't see any reason for it to be outside. Isn't it also more vulnerable to damage from debris out there too?
Actually, thats the idea. Local governments are supposed to be more in touch with the local public and their needs than the big, scary fedral government. In practice this is far from the truth, as states' rights are being corroded, such as President Bush wanting to ban abortion in all of America. This should be unconstitutional. Every state should choose their own policy on abortion, as it affects the individual states more than the government. This is only one example.
Which is why we should all vote LIBERTARIAN. They stand for what America is supposed to be, and they actually aren't afraid to say it and how it should be done.

Would you mind posing a link to a site that uses Gmail, please? I'm not doubting you, but I need to see a link.

I can just steal the floppy with the keys on it.

If these "savvy" users are ok with running XP on a 1.5ghz proc and with 128mb of ram, then yeah, they'd do that.

That is the most ludacris idea I have heard in a long time. Thanks for making my day.

That is why politics is all about choosing between the lesser of two evils.

No, not spy on YOU. Their secret plan is to take over the United States first, then ta(j%&YHd369YF&^%#)G[NO CARRIER]

The solution is slackware.

This is but the beginning of the end.
The real story is when they open the source to the drivers.

Thats a pretty big improvement for a mature piece of software such as mozilla.
