I need a smartwatch with a lead case that will last 20 years on a single charge of Pu-238... a radio-isotope generator would not require me to charge it once or twice a day.
Why is being an "uncivilized dirt farmer" a bad thing, as opposed to being an urbanite living in a 20 square meter box, subject to constant surveillance?
No -- you don't have to carry a mobile phone all of the time. There are no checkpoints where EVERY phone is searched at random. Also, gas station feeds are fragmented, they all go to their own DVRs and aren't checked by the government except as part of an investigation.
I assume the DC police department is smarter than to use consumer IoT devices for spying on the public. Then again, we're talking about cops, who generally aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer. (Even management).
Thankfully -- without stupid, technically ignorant cops, there would be even less freedom left on Earth.
wire free?
I want cloud free. if it can't stream securely and directly to a device I own without a clown... I mean cloud... interloper, then they can keep it.
I can get up and look at a peephole or have a non cloud WiFi camera without streaming images of all comers to my home to the Amazon Borg.
IDK, I ride public transport. At least the occasional train station musicians, break-dancers, and random people talking to you provide free entertainment. A self-driving car will be the combination of being herded like cattle and sterile hell. A sensors deprivation bubble on wheels, without the fun of driving yourself or the charm of serendipity, random interactions with other humans. People will be whisked from home to work to activities with no opportunity for "unapproved" interactions. This future will stink and probably push me to move to a developing country which is too poor to afford self-driving tech for the next 50-60 years...
My point is that an ecaaaahhhhhnamy should be based on sustainability, not on constant growth (another word for tumor) and consumption (another word for TB). We can't multiply like hamsters forever.
Why is overpopulation a laudable thing?
The Japanese home islands are already highly populated -- no need to increase the population. Stabilizing at early-1900s levels would be much more sustainable.
Costa Rica and Portugal have longer life expectancies than the good 'ol US of Ay. You'd be surprised: good medical care isn't only confined to North America:)
"Retirement" doesn't mean not working. It means not HAVING to work 50+ hours a week for someone whom you dislike.
Go back to school. Retrain. Do something that you love that pays less. In high school, I had a history teacher who was a former fireman -- he retired in his late 40s, went for his master's in history, and ended up teaching high school. Great guy, inspired a lot of kids.
Of course it's an option: (1) Assuming you have a paid-off home, rent it out (2) Go live somewhere where it costs $1000-2000/mo to survive. Bali, Costa Rica, parts of Portugal, you get the drift.
Are they getting fed up? Does the average sheep care?
Or are people just getting jaded about additional tech?

do they still have the lower rate for phones, which you can get on any device by changing the useragent parameter?
loan period is generally 3 weeks with two renews. total 9 weeks.
as far as fitting books, I'm usually that guy who "cheats" with the laptop bag. no problem with TSA so far as long as I take the actual laptop out.
Air Canada has WiFi, yes.
the dead-tree kind. or just kick back, look out the window and daydream. we don't need to be part of the Borg 24/7/365.
And occasionally, I give a particularly good one some cash.
So they'll have more doctors and nurses for a few decades. And increased automation will help take care of the elderly.
Print money to get over the "hump" and move on -- no mass immigration needed.

Where is coinbase HQ? And will the bank-run scene from "It's a Wonderful Life" be enacted there?
Is that like the fire insurance that also protects your kneecaps, only sold by Big Uncle Vinny?
Maybe they're b-b-b-b-irths, in a cold delivery room :)

Yes. Because Americans are scientifically ignorant cowards.
(and use pumped-storage hydro -- when water is available -- for load leveling as well)
Run nuclear plants as peakers -- yes, it can be done with the right design.
Nuclear isn't renewable, but it's a hell of a lot cleaner than fossil fools.

Why do you have to be tied down to the US?
