  1. Re:Huh? "Most stable?" on Europeans To Monitor American Voters · · Score: 0

Yes, the translation captures the spirit. After many of the big cities became reformed (I don't know if this translates right, in German it's called "Reformierte"), the catholic provinces, consisting mainly of the countryside, created a new federation called the "sonderbund". Then the other provinces decided they had to protect the unity of the country and destroyed the sonderbund with military power. The war was over after 27 days and 100 deaths. http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonderbundskrieg

I beg to differ. We had the "Sonderbundskrieg", a civil war between catholic and reformed provinces, about 1850 p.c.

Did you know that in some provinces in switzerland, we weight votes instead of counting them?

Yes, you heard right. We make two big piles with the yes and no votes, and weight them with an ordinary scale. We then compare the result with the weight of say 100 votes to see how many yes and no votes we have.

This will not work with all spam, but it should be efficient against the likes of the nigerian scammers.

They send out millions of messages in the hope that a few people fall for it and reply. But if everybody replies showing fake interest, they can't sort out the real responses from the fake ones. If it takes them only 10 seconds to respond to an email, then 10000 fake responses will give them work for several days!

Even Joe Jobs are no problem since we don't multiply the messages (one response for one incoming). If someone wants to flood a mail box and is capable of sending millions of fake emails, he can as well send those emails directly to that mailbox.

On a long enough timeline EVERYONE's survival rate drops to ZERO!!! We are all going to die. The question is ... how we live and whether you can be proud of the way you did.

That's true. Dead is nothing to be afraid of, il will happen sooner or later, and once you are dead, nothing will bother you anymore.

But are we really so selfish? Our dead does not only concern us. We have mothers, fathers, relatives and friends that we will leave behind. Think about the pain you will cause them. Imagine your son was killed by a mugger because he didn't want to hand over his wallet.
