  2. NO, not quite on Is AOL The Key to Microsoft 'Killing' Google? · · Score: 0

If MS buys AOL, it won't be GOOG that gets killed - it will be AOL. OTOH, if Google were to buy AOL, and then team with Apple with OS XI running on Intel, then we can all sit back and watch MS decline. xAOL employee

About 15 years ago my boss needed at Novell CNE on the payroll to win some contract he was after. He gave me a day off a week to study the practice tests. A month later I had a shiney new CNE certificate, but I could hardly set up a print server. I am great at taking tests. MSIE looks not too bad but fortunately the dot com era allowed me to retired from the BS IT biz.

  5. Cool Idea, but... on Thousands and Thousands of Hours of PVR TV · · Score: 1

Don't they only get like 4 terrestial channels in the UK -- BBC1-3 and ITV? Doesn't sound like a big technical accomplishment. OTOH, if I could continuously tivo about a dozen choice channels on DirecTV on an HD TiVO, and had a decent, useable UI (which TiVo sucks at), I would be happy to pay $$$$$ for the processor and software, if were extensible to a user provided disk array. And by $$$$$, let's say if it exceeded the cost of my Sony plasma, no problem.

After reading all these Dilbertish posts on promotion strategies, I got down on my knees and offered thanks to Whomever provided me with the opportunity to cash out in 2000 and retire forever. Now that I have had my most stressful moment of the day, I think I will go to the Mud House for a cup of coffee and read the paper and take a nap. It sucks that there was no "Curb Your Enthusiasm" last night. Uber
