  1. Feedly erryday on Slashdot Asks: Do You Still Use RSS? · · Score: 1

It's THE BEST way to follow a bunch of websites. Twitter/Facebook has too much noise to signal ratio. With RSS you can break the content into categories, browse and star interesting articles and "mark as read" entire folders. You can cover a ton of sites throughly whie attempting the same on social media websites is too fleeting. RSS really is like a modern newspaper.

  2. A confusing, stupid name. on Is the Wii U Already Dead? · · Score: 1

A confusing stupid name (bad marketing), a horrible online experience, forcing us to buy gimmicky control schemes, clinging to the broken pricing model (that the other current-gen consoles will continue to do until the console market crashes again). I loved Nintendo, their first party games were awesome but they've become an EA styled parody of themselves. They should just call their new games Mario 2013, Mario 2014, etc. They gotta pack it in and do a Sega (go software only). Release their classic NES/SNES games for $1 on iOS and make the new 3D mario games for PlayStation 4 or Xbox 720. Maybe let a company who "gets" online design the online experience.

There's still people without solid internet connection. The time to go straight digital isn't now. Sony invented Blu-Ray. I'd bet $2 there's an optical drive.

Platform exclusives. Also like every previous console generation the hardware doesn't sound as impressive as your PC but the software is optimized for the platform and doesn't have to run as much OS overhead. (as far as I know).

Seems like a halfway solution from locally hosting and streaming the way Onlive did it. Steam already does achievements & progress syncing in some games but it'll be awesome when/if you'll be able to pause the game, then pic it up from your mobile device from the exact same spot and graphically reduced if required.

Truedat but what I mean is an optimized build for people who want a game centric experience. Steam itself has a web browser and instant messenger. It could be as much of a stand alone OS as ChromeOS is.

Yeah the pricepoint blows and none of this will likely happen. There's a number of 3rd party controllres but the problem is that they don't have official support so they're not in every game. If Apple atleast had a standard/universal controller support it would be awesome. If Apple they did the wiimote thing where it's a remote control for the TV but you could use it as a gampead - ah, we can dream, heh.

Apple seems to hate gaming. If they just released a solid bluetooth gamepad for Apple TV & iPads they could destroy consoles. What would you rather do: 1) Buy your kid an expensive console with $60 games. 2) Buy your kid a ton of $1 app style games with a system you may already own. Mind you, the production quality of AAA $60 games is a huge step up but some of them app games are pretty damn good for $1.
