Google group and MSN group isn't really quite as big as Yahoo group.
As far as Yahoo Games goes, I don't see any other major player trying to compete with them, MSN have... a little small share in this, and google, what do they have? Those home page widget?.
Seriously. Yahoo isn't doing this to earn money. They know video online is already crowded to the lid, they are only doing this to over crowd the market so nobody will have a strong hold of the market.
Good business sense, but does nothing for customers, we already have more then enough choices, more only pollute this field in my opinion
Only if you assume the new drive, with new technology, is still just as reliable as those older drive in smaller sizes.
And only if you discount the fact that, while it is 7 times as likely to fails at once, it is also 7 times more likely to fail at all.
Also, 7 x 100 is less then 750. If you want some back up in place you will need the the extra controller and hardware to configure it into a RAID, which, even if in software mode, still take times to set up.
Lastly, I doublt 7 100 gig drives can consume just as much energy as 1 750 gigs drive, nor will they get the same amount of heat, or noise, or, density. I fail to find any consumer case that can take 7 drives comfortably, that means hold it, make it small, and cool them quietly.
As you can see, there are many many benifies to one bigger drive.
I'm a Chinese. And from what I understand, you are correct. They are adding -additional- TLD that are using Chinese Character. I do not see how this will be in conflict with the rest of the interenet, and how this will be "creating an alternative internet". It have the politental to coexist with ICANN's TLD.
I dislike Ad blocker. Occassionally there are ad I rather would do without, but ad like that will hurt them more then it hurt me. Sometime I do find really interesting ad that I want to know more about. I have no problem clicking on ads on website. Nor do I have a problem supporting ad based company. However when it get to become too many and too much. I will stop using them. For example. TV these day really have too many ad, so does Magazine.
There are simply no comparison between Google and Baidu. Google still try to do everything correctly, while Baidu think more fitting for the Chinese Culture, for example. If you type in the name of the singer and the song title, Baidu is willing to lead you to dozen of direct MP3 link to the download of that song without even touching any other site at all. There are simply no way Google can do that. The only reason Google will lose to Baidu is because Google can't have a fair fight with Baidu.
Incorrect. A puppy is expensive cause it is one extra creature to support, but getting internet access doesn't suddenly create extra mouth to feed. One thing you buy from those advertising can means one thing you -don't- buy from somewhere else. You just do the same thing differently. It doesn't necessary be more expensive, in fact, with more information, you will save money because you are better informed.
Don't blame advertising blindly please. Just cause there are billions of spams doesn't means all advertisiment are evil.
I believe you have no idea how a call center enviroment are like. I can imagine how those call center managers who are looking for excuse to get more budget will find a device like this amusing.
I hope that was supposed to be funny!
Since they are talking about the Google map, not the cacheing of their actual website!
However, I do wonder how they get the fund to build that thing but not the fund to secure it... tell you how important some people think security is.
Laugh it up, funny boy. This is a prime example of why open source software can't be trusted on government computers until there's a reasonably centralized organization heading up the whole thing.
Yeah, what the heck are they thinking? They should just leave the vurnability hidden and leave your computer to infest with spyware, which could have done anything since they pretty much install their own excutable on demand if they wanted to, like the "default" browser are doing!
First of all, there's lots of transparency in the code, but no accountability in the coders. If somebody exploits some random firefox hole and nukes a town with our own weapons, was it worthwhile just to push some silly philosophy?
Yeah, with this type of transparency, finding problem before some hacker discover it on their own is MILLION to one I tell you what!
Second, you can't trust the government to upgrade its systems because, for the most part, it's full of incompetents and generally doesn't pay well enough to hire anything better from the private sector contractors it digs into. I mean, granted, this GM update will (stupidly) force an install on your computer (gleefully breaking all sorts of things in the process), but most software devs are responsible enough not to do that, and won't.
That is right, a automatic update are proven to break everything, and it is a greater risk then just leaving the vurnability there cause no one can fix it right, since everyone have equal access to the source code. They all have equal chance if fixing it themselve if they wanted to. According to the average programing skill in the public, the number is dishearteningly low!
Seriously, I think they did what they want. When you install something on your computer, you should be responible for the outcome and do your research, especially when installing in corp offices and other critical use. This type of things happened with just about anything. According to your logic, we should just go back to pencil and paper cause no one can hack them without phyhically steal your stuff.
The prescriptions in real life getting from an actual doctor usually cost a lot, and most normal diseases, admittedly, are not 'urgent' by many people standard. If they can save some money, many are willing to try something they never heard of. Hey, worst is that they don't work and they will have to see a real doctor.
Not neceassary.
They could always just buy 75$ millions of Optical mouse and keyboard. Or whatever hardware microsoft dare to come out with that will work fine with Linux.
"You can only be so successful, because after that point, we're taking it away from you".
Exactly.
New industries will continue to come up, and government will continues to punish those who managed to become very successful, simply to allow smaller player to have a better chance. The law itself were never meant to be fair to business. IT is meant to make a fair industries and make it fair to the consumer.
Because of Windows being the majority, and the rest of the market will want compariblity to this platform, windows can afford to charge more, at the same time using lock in tactic to make sure more windows installed PC will be sold. Which is exactly what this Law is trying to address. The fact that there are some competition surviving have nothing to do with the fact that domination of windows combinated with lock in tactic can hurt competition.
Same with telephone company. Government giving some early business adopter advantage have nothing to do with the possibility of some Telephone company bring big enough nowday to give consumer less choice.
If this law is not in place, we might be paying $300 for a copy of window, and we will still be using one single telephone company for half the US with possible price fix and stuff.
The law seem non-sense at a lower level, but to ensure the intergity of market competition, it is necessary.
Wal Mart so far only demand a lower price or won't buy your product. And their only tactic is basically lower their price. These are not illegal.
However, according to this law:
17045. The secret payment or allowance of rebates, refunds, commissions, or unearned discounts, whether in the form of money or otherwise, or secretly extending to certain purchasers special
services or privileges not extended to all purchasers purchasing upon like terms and conditions, to the injury of a competitor and
where such payment or allowance tends to destroy competition, is unlawful.
What intel is accused of doing, as in paying under the table or threaten to do anything if someone buy/sell AMD product. It is illegal.
Yahoo groups and Yahoo games might be 1st.

Right, I remeber how much good the free market did for us on Windows 3.1

I think you just got put in his blacklist..!

use robots.txt in the first place.
I hope that was supposed to be funny!
Since they are talking about the Google map, not the cacheing of their actual website!

If so I might be interested in a touch sensitive mouse too!
.... I would have just bought a Ferrari and runs down those people I need to kill instead of waving around not-really-threatening-in-real-life weapon
On the other hand... well, luke might not have an extra hand to shift the gear. I guess going for a light saber over a Ferrari is reasonable.
Laugh it up, funny boy. This is a prime example of why open source software can't be trusted on government computers until there's a reasonably centralized organization heading up the whole thing.

Hey, worst is that they don't work and they will have to see a real doctor.
That part was meant to be saractism.
The prescriptions in real life getting from an actual doctor usually cost a lot, and most normal diseases, admittedly, are not 'urgent' by many people standard. If they can save some money, many are willing to try something they never heard of. Hey, worst is that they don't work and they will have to see a real doctor.
....why not just ask them to take them off?
Otherwise the court won't ask the company to keep their document/file. This case probably will take a while to settle...
Not neceassary.

Pardon me for forgetting the quote thingy around "Secret".
....isn't it a well known serect that Intel give price break to people who won't use AMD?
