That is not what I said. PHP is not glue. mod_php is glue (between Apache and PHP). PHP is, as I said, its own thing. I have no problem giving it the credit it deserves, but stick it in as "most improved" or something and vote for something here that's really indispensible as an add-on module.
VMware has done more than most any other app to free people from having to duel-boot to "that proprietary OS", but it has it's own closed-source-suid-root problems. Freemware has incredible potential and has already shown itself capable of fulfilling that potential.
I hate to pick something that isn't OSS, but this one deserves attention. Designing a functional GUI for a graphics application is notoriously difficult, but Corel got it right. About the only thing it lacks is an option to work in an SDI mode, but under Windows I guess it never mattered. Here's hoping we see something similar that's OSS one of these days, cause the GIMP sure doesn't cut it.
I agree in sentiment, but my preffered backgrounds tend to be from Largo (http://wm.current.nu/).
Some of his stuff gets a bit "out there" (and I wouldn't go there if you're really easily offended by suggestive stuff), but he also has some of the best Goth-ish stuff I've found. And some of his stuff has actually inspired artistically-challenged me to try designing some of his own.
But seriously... this is especially a good choice, because Apache doesn't necessarily fit into the other categories, and it deserves to win as many things as it can.
I agree entirely, and not just cause I mentioned this thought to you in the first place.;P
So like Mark said, I don't have much use for the current newbies that want it all handed to them, but Matt established some time ago some great documentation where it was greatly needed, and this work is still the base for some of the best docs out there for those that will help themselves.
I know mod_perl and mod_php are going to be the big ones here, but please consider the fact that the accolades both of these receive are due mostly to the software they're letting Apache work with. That's not a bad thing, but they're more "glue" than modules that do something really impressive in their own right.
So why not let this award go to a module that is more Apache-specific, such as mod_ssl?

The page linked from the article refers to it as the Graphics Suite and calls for people experienced in the use of CorelDRAW and CorelPHOTO-PAINT.
