Let's be real here. Work was your escape from life. And now that the work isn't there, you are scared of life. Nothing anyone suggests is going to be good for you.

You don't want to hear about hobbies and family, so that suggests that you don't have any hobbies and don't find them interesting. As for family, you worked to hide from them. So what sort of things do you really want? I mean, obviously you could try to find another job, or volunteer. Except that isn't what you want to hear.

Look, you will probably become a drunk or druggy and die in a few years. It's okay, some people are just one track minded and can't think beyond what they have been doing for the last 25 years.

I'll tell you what, life isn't that bad, it's the people in it that suck, can't escape that. But you can blow them up, or stab them with a sword online. If that doesn't make life a bit sweeter, I don't know what could. Oh, yes I do. Start smoking weed. It's a gateway drug.

The first few layers of the visual cortex are highly malleable. Wear a set of glasses that flip the world upside down (or angle the field of view by 10 degrees) and the system will adapt within a couple of days - the user will see the world as normal.

But also - when the user stops wearing the glasses the system quickly adapts back.

With all this fluidity, I suspect that a gamer's heightened sense of perception will dissipate if they stop playing games. At a guess this would probably take about 6 weeks.

If maybe the brain wasn't processing what you see. I doubt the eyes react quicker, it's probably the brain reacts quicker. Why? Because of the practice. So the skill could get rusty if you don't use it everyday, but it's possible that once you gain the skill, you use it.

So basically I don't agree with your assumption and me, not being an expert (but a long time gamer), I'm going with my assumption.

Seems that since it's all in the police hands, they can make it disappear pretty quick also. So unless they have no way of tampering/deleting the video in the camera, my guess is they will just delete what makes them look bad.

Console hackers would love access to the Dev SW. While sure, it's not the hardware, it might show possible bugs they can use to gain access to the machine.

I'm going to point out that when DVD's were newish, they were $20 new. And you are getting a much higher quality video in Bluray format then you are in DVD format. Give it 10 more years or 4k movies becoming popular to see the price of Bluray movies going down. VHS movies used to cost alot when new also, way back when.

And oddly enough, what you could do is buy a cheaper DVD version of a movie, then download a bluray version to watch. Sure, it's not legal, but you are paying what you feel the movie is worth, just not as much as they want.

I like that idea but it would paint the show into a corner. It would mean that the next doctor would need to regenerate into John Hurt. Logistically that would be risky.

Except they're already in a corner, and need a plot device to get past the established "12 regeneration limit" (which probably seemed like plenty back in the 1970s). If Moffat was going to try and sweep that under the carpet, he wouldn't have name-checked the Valeyard. A big show-down with Doc #13 would be a good opportunity to do a bit of temporal re-writing.

One option would be to have either #11, #12 or #13 die 'for real' and a new individual take on the title "The Doctor" which would fit some of the foreshadowing such the importance of the chosen name, the previous reference to 'The fall of the 11th' suggesting that its actually #11 who died on Trenzelore, the fact that Clara only met 11 Doctors when the whirly-lighty-thing was meant to contain all the Doctors past and future...

The 50th anniversary special in November is a good excuse for a bit of continuity wanking.
