Hey that's awesome that you're donating it to your church. I suggest setting them up with iTunes, possibly Word or TextEdit (which TextEdit if you don't have a Word licence) Safari, and a few other fun Apps depending on the need in the dock. You could either create a general account, or you could do general and special accounts for regulars at the group. Make sure there's an admin password, and hopefully you have someone there who can actually use a Mac well so they don't just say it sucks.
Make sure it's got at least 512 of RAM in it. Stick Panther on, and your teens should be happy.

This is freaking sweet! I saw this on Slashdot and checked out Apple's site. I'm buying this as soon as I can! Looks like it doesn't even have to be plugged directly into the wall like it shows you, it actually has the normal Apple plugin feature like it's power adapter counterpart that will let you either plug into the wall directly or slide a cable in and the plugin part out.
Also AirTunes looks awesome! I normally have an old Amp plugged in via an audio cable to my PowerBook, I guess I'll have to buy an adapter at radio shack to make it work. But this sounds awesome! I hate plugging my sterio in and out. And the option of taking this to my school's library, plugging it in, in the laptop carol and surfing anywhere sounds awesome!
I will have to look and see how easily it can be made to behave more like a hub (last time I plugged a router in to our network the network guys got mad at me cause it screwed up the network) But I imagine it can be fiddled with. Or so I've been told.

Oh and for you guys complaining about not having an interface or anything on it. It's on your screen. most people who use this will have iBooks or PowerBooks, you run iTunes in the room you're in. What this does mean however is you can have your PowerBook on the couch, with you and friends, and your stereo across the room.
Or simply you don't have to plug in and out, in and out, in and out.

Lately Apple's costs charges in Canada have sometimes been a little lower than the American prices. We might see 99 cent or 1.25 dollar songs up here, which for a 12 song CD still works out to 15 bucks, which is lower than the average 20 dollar CD I buy. But with the RIAA realizing that HEY it's now LEGAL to pirate in Canada, I imagine they'll try and be as nice to Apple as they can up here. Puretracks is selling for 99 cents a track. I would be very happy if we see Apple do this.
You don't own an iPod do you? Fact is the experience of using the iPod is part of it, and the experience of using iTunes is part of it. Working with Audio mixing tools isn't exactly the best because you're doing all the work. You may not agree. But simply because Apple is saying they're the best doesn't mean they're Microsoftish. It means they've still got a huge ego, which is no news. Watch any MacWorld or WWDC and you'll see Steve and company have some massive ego going on. It's not so bad they do make some really great products and do stuff better than most people in the markets they enter.
Apple I think entered the MP3 player market with the iPod because iTunes was going well by it'self and they were getting great feedback but the portable player market was not growing the way they saw it could. And decided to fill it. They did the same thing with the iSight recently. There are no really good web cams out there that people all want to buy to do web cam stuff. Now at least for the Mac Apple has filled that void.
Apple has a mentality where they'll let a market get to some point and if nobody has taken the lead they'll just come in and blow everyone away.
If you notice they have iMovie and iPhoto and yet they haven't made any ventures into the camcorder or camera markets. Why? Cause Canon, Fujifilm, Nikon, HP, Kodak, Samsung, Sony, JVC, and company are all doing very good for digital stuff in these markets.
I hope they launch in Canada! Though I've made a point of not getting a credit card... though if they start selling those iTunes cards at 7-11 or something then problem solved... it's to bad they can't do things by Interac.
A friend and I recently found a song by one of our fave bands that has since broken up on the iTMS, we pirated it because it's not really available easily here, and it was on a compilation. But if we could just buy that one song Apple would have at least two more Canadian bucks in their bank.
Microsoft has already done this with media player, only they didn't strike up any deals, they just said OK yah this will be on your computers now because it's part of windows. They did the same thing with IE. Only what everyone got pissed off with IE about was the fact that they told people, hey you can have Windows with IE but you can't put netscape on your computers. Otherwise you can't have either.
Apple isn't telling any companies to take out media player.

Uhh I'm a geek, and I'm a Mac user... heck I'm going to be a Pastor, I'm not really a pro looking for a comp to do my big huge post production work on, I do basic web design, graphic design, photography, some audio stuff, chat etc, and I'm in college. Macs aren't just for stupid people and pros. They're for geeks too.
I seem to remember someone from Pixar saying that they were moving over to G5 work stations.
As for the Render Farm I believe they just purchased a whole lot of 2.8Ghz Xeons (if I remember correctly) and so it would probably not make sense for them to go and buy a ton of Macs for that right at the moment. Besides Steve knows when Apple's upgrade schedule is. They will buy Dual 3Ghz or 4Ghz Xserves before they need to render the next Pixar release I bet.
Intel: Hey Microsoft why don't you slow down windows a bit?
Microsoft: Why?
Intel: That way home users will actually have a reason to buy a 3Ghz processor
