That is factually incorrect. The mayan calendar ends on December 23 2012.
There are many cycles within the mayan calendar, but the calendar itself ends on a specific date.
The last time I posted this link I got some guff but I think it's appropriate to post again. Nassim Haramein has been explaining for years that these solar flares would be occurring leading up to the year 2012: http://www.theresonanceproject.org./ You can find his video "Crossing the Event Horizon" on BitTorrent.
many of the physics organizations you are familiar with get grants from the federal government which is provided via coercive theft of your money through taxation.
this group takes voluntary contributions only. seems like you should be more worried about the former.
This theory has implications that could revolutionize scientific thought across numerous fields. It may even provide some direction for the unified theory people to look in that isn't horribly complex and require inventing 1700 dimensions to make the math work.
Nassim Haramein provides a grand unified field theory on gravity, universal spin and the fractal nature of the universe at http://theresonanceproject.org/
This is some incredible stuff. Several of his lectures can be found on google video. The 8 hour long one is highly recommended!
Tons of money for an expensive studio doesn't make a radio station either. Anything with a computer and an internet connection can be a radio station today.
I also run a small radio station, although it's funded by a university, we don't have much equipment or money. We make due with what we have and that's what makes it fun.
If you're running this on a Mac, try Audio Hijack Pro. It's the best recording tool I've used for recording audio from applications. http://www.rogueamoeba.com/audiohijackpro/
I've used BitTorrent's official client and Azureus and found the former too basic and the latter too demanding on memory. I've been using Bits On Wheels (http://www.bitsonwheels.com/) for about 6 months and I love it. There is a 3D function so you can see an interesting rendition of the torrent swarm. I don't know if this exists in other apps but it should, it's a nice feature.
Yet Windows Media Player and MSIE will no longer be offered... interesting... The MS representative at Macworld was trying to show that they are "in for the long haul" but they're backing out at the same time. Doesn't matter much to me, I hate WMP, MSIE and Office 2004. I wish they would leave Apple alone altogether then maybe apple would release the rest of their iWork suite (that I'm sure is finished but waiting to release until MS pulls out).
The iPod really has defined modern society the same way the cell phone has. There is a slight lean toward portable devices on their list and I think that the iPod has been a very important invention.
This is slightly offtopic but this article got me thinking again. I recently bought a powerbook (and spent a good bit of money), I'm loving it but I am curious about upgrading things like the airport card or processor in the future. I have no experience upgrading Apple computers. How would I go about upgrading to 802.11n if I decided to do so? Would it require an upgrade of the built in antennas?

I think you read the article wrong man. You couldn't possibly use Caps Lock everytime you uppercased a letter. That's almost as bad as turning off your car everytime you come to a stoplight.
Global warming is one huge hoax.

Nassim Haramein put forth the theory of a fractal universe in 2008: http://theresonanceproject.org/research.html
ah, point taken :)

I agree
But Dvorak said Apple was switching to Windows! How could this possibly be true?
Way to start the contest during my FINALS WEEK
I had all year of doing nothing to work on a layout but now I'm busy damn it!
Can I have a "good faith effort" MacBook Pro?

What chance do operating systems like BEOS stand against Mac and Windows? What advantages are there to using BEOS?

That or Google...
