    What really defines a "product on its own"? After all, Virtually all of the updates since 10.0 could be described as just patches.

    How much of that is system cache and buffers though? You can find it with free -m and looking at the +/- buffers bit.

    It's locked-down, proprietary and a M$ product. Need I say more?

    A bit like Flash then, except with "Adobe" in place of "M$"? That doesn't seem to have bothered many people.

    Look at the a2enmod command, it does what you're asking for. Specifically the userdir module.

    From what I can tell, you're forbidden from using it over the mobile carriers network. You can only use it with Wifi.

    What about all those apps that Apple don't approve of? I doubt we'll see things like VoIP on the app store, so yes, there are some cases where it's still relevant.

    Vista has a memory leak in the shell, and they offer a patch on request and will fix it in SP1.
    From the summary:

    Apparently a fix was scheduled for SP1 but didn't make it.

    The only downside I can think of is the fact that you can't see the "https" part of secure sites. But the background colour still changes, and you still get the padlock icon, so it's not a huge loss.

    The best thing they could do, IMO, is to render every URL in the address bar with the domain in red BOLD letters.
    Take a look at Locationbar2, it's going to be included by default in Firefox 3.

    But you can use BSD licenced code in GPL licenced projects. From the look of it, the same does not apply to MS-PL licenced code, and that's the issue people have.

    no exit node snooping vulnerability (yes, technically we can see everything but all of our products are either not logged or logs are purged after 2 days)
    So in other words, "the vulnerability is still there, but don't worry, you can trust us with the data", right?
