    Right now, the muggers see "white" and think "iPod". What do you think when you see purple headphones? I think "teenager with a $15 CD walkman."

    There won't be enough people switching to not-white headphones to change muggers' general perceptions of iPods, I'll bet.

    It more than "looks fine", cubic zirconium is indistinguishable from an actual diamond except with special equipment. But buying a cubic zirconium ring is often seen in society as, "My fiance(e) isn't worth a real diamond, here's a fake one." ....even if no one can tell. ....it makes no sense whatsoever.

    The study only compares it against other songs that were being traded and sold at the same time. It's not comparing what could have been, but more along the lines of the songs that were traded did better than the ones that weren't.

    I do agree, it's impossible to say for sure - Maybe the music industry would be dead now if not for P2P, maybe it would be twice as big. No one can say anything besides "probably" or "probably not" for either of those, at least without a time machine.

    Use the Mozilla agent, it actually works fairly well. The only problem as far as I can tell is that Safari tried to grab the graphic as a drag-and-drop object, so you do have to move it in small steps.

    words like "fastest" and "largest" can be accurately measured. words like "best" and "niftiest" can not.


    Not necessarily. Many scientific-oriented processors would suck for home use, and vice versa. There are many different kinds of tasks that many different processors excel at.
    Apple's ads probably should have said something like "The first and fastest 64-bit desktop PC processor" (which I think is true, or was at the time of the ad - the other 64-bit procs I've seen were server-oriented, until AMD's 64-bit chip.)

    a distro needs good games bundled, even if its simply mahjong

    I doubt Apple will drop the OS X name until they drop the BSD/Unix/whatever foundation, which given their current progress with it, is probably not going to be for a very long time.

    They'll find a way to keep OS X, OS X even beyond 10.9, I'm sure.
