"mere allegation of sexual misconduct" does not equal "preponderance of evidence".
"Preponderance of evidence" means that if given the evidence and witnesses it's more likely that "sexual misconduct" happened, they lose.
This is apparently the standard in most civil cases in the US.
Apparently this breaks constitutional rights in some cases and is a pretty arbitrary way of ruling, IMO.
They said it would only be used to track terrorists and only after suspicion?
Of course not! Why let something cutting edge like PRISM go to waste on a couple of said terrorists when you can just use it to track everyone pro-actively?
Personally, I don't think it would be difficult at all.
You just set yourself up at some big traffic axis in and out the city, and after a week I'm sure you'll have 90% of all cars and their movement.
Besides, who needs to track cars when you can just track a cellphone signal.
This makes me think of a story I once heard of a dissident in the Sovjet Union.
He was being pulled aside by the KGB and "questioned" (using 'special techniques') in a room with a window looking out the outside world.
He was denying something and said "Why are you keeping me here? What am I suspected of?".
The KGB agent pointed to the window and the people walking outside and said "They are the suspects, you are already guilty."
Also, it's not because you're not a manager that you're not managing. I'm sure a programmer with 14 years of experience must have designed some systems, worked together with other people where he had to direct and/or manager, explain implementation or tell other people how some pieces of the software should be implemented etc... In short, being the technical lead for some projects. That's the kind of things you need to answer to questions like 'why have you never managed?'
Our company, and I'm sure many others, have two tracks of equal 'level': engineering and manager. So as an engineer, you can be junior, regular, senior, principal or lead. Once above this level, which is already pretty high, is a Director. Manager track is junior manager, regular, senior, Director, VP, etc..
So it's very possible to be a principal engineer, but 'higher on the ladder' than another manager. I'm sure many other companies also value their engineers and other technical people as much as they do managers.
Is it even possible for an 11 year old to be charged with assault or resisting arrest?
Is it even possible for an 11 year old to be formally arrested and have his rights read to him?
Many parts of Computer Science require quite some mathematical knowledge.
Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, computability, linear regression,.... all require you to know something about math.
Sure you don't need advanced math to install a router or network. Or even to make an App. But you're pursuing a degree in Computer Science, so computer science you get. If you're just interested in some programming, networks, etc... You may be better of getting some certifications from M$, Oracle, Cisco and the like.
This study assumes of course that you are at home, go to the store by car and get back. But people will also streamline their transportation routes. I, for example, always go to the store when coming back from work. It's on the same way, so the added emissions here are just me stopping and starting my car. I'm sure many other people are in the same case.
It's the brain.
I saw a documentary once about why boys like car mechanics and exact things and girls don't.
When working on a car, the man's brain uses mainly his logical half. Women usually use both halves of their brain, even on logical things.
They found that women who did enjoy car mechanics, had a brain usage pattern similar to men, so they too used their logical half of the brain on these tasks.
You can't change nature (or just very slowly through natural selection;-)).
I don't know how much "engineers" (whatever that means... support engineers? software engineers?... ) he employs, but he went from 2% to 15% women engineers.
Wiki says Etsy had 60 employees in 2009.
How much of these are engineers? Let us take 30, so he went from 1 women engineer to 5?
And if the total of staff represents a 50/50 ratio (implied but not explicitly said in the article), that means he's employing much more women in the artsy/HR/finance/marketing departments? Isn't that discrimination too?
15% is still a pretty low mark. I don't see this as being a success at all.

He had a wifi dongle, he was therefore transporting the internet and is guilty of every crime ever committed on the internet!

right. Hey Stacey, would you please print out today's internet, please?
99% == made-up statistics there, fixed that for you ;-)
I'd say 99% AdSense not responding, analytics not responding, social media buttons not responding....there goes your website ;-)

And some other instances, like for example plenty of companies, use VPN access to be able to test their systems from the outside.
