Just so you know, both chrysler and mercedes benz are owned by the same parent company.

  2. Re:Why note encode data in the signal on Laser Warnings Planned for Out-of-Bounds Pilots · · Score: 1

Pilots already memorize light patterns for other things, this would just be one more. Its not like driving a car where anyone can do it. Getting a pilot's license requires a LOT of training. Pilots have to memorize that white-over-white means too high, red-over-red means to low, and red-over-white is just right, for landing at night. Not too mention tons of other patterns that don't have to do with lights. Since red is starboard and green is port, it would be easier to just say "red = turn right, green = turn left" and a combo could mean turn around. If you entered the airspace... going straight ahead won't get you out.

Check out http://amandahades.com/ Its a cool online series, and in some of the episodes they mention that they can't shoot because "gun shot triangulators" will have the cops on their asses in less than a minute or two. Actually, english is descendant from german, which does have a case for the unknown gender ;-)

  4. Re:This is what id like.. on The Perfect Online Music Store? · · Score: 1

There are programs in existance that strip iTMS songs of the DRM. Its a tad annoying, but it works. My favorite music store is *cough*gnutella*cough*. It has every file format, and a much larger library. My second favorite is the iTMS though. Apart from the DRM and the lack of files other than m4p (protected AAC), its as good as it gets.

  5. And we didn't know because??? on Inside Al-Qaeda's Hard Drive · · Score: 1

What I don't understand is that if some of the data is E-Mails from OSAMA BIN LADEN himself, how the HELL did the several security agencies that we have here in the U.S. not pick up the e-mail in transit? Don't we monitor these things or is that super computer in fort meade just used to play solitaire? I mean seriously, i'd say that ANY e-mail with the word "osama" in it should probably be picked up by big brother. The NSA and CIA are apparently now taking away from our freedom in exchange for security, yet they have failed to deliver on the security.

  8. Re:Whaaaat? Cluesless AOL users? on Dealing with False AOL Spam Reports? · · Score: 1

I've had problems with AOL's spam lists on more than one occasion. The first was a few months ago when people working for my dads company began receiving notices telling them that they were on the aol spam list and could not send e-mail to aol uses. My dad attributed this to my powermac, which happened to be on his network so I could access it from school. He didn't know why he was getting the spam messages and new that my powermac was running some kind of server software, so he concluded that someone had used it to send spam from his network and he could no longer send e-mails to aol users. I did not argue, though I knew he was wrong, because he is a bit stubborn in his ways, and I had no solid evidence of what else might have happened. Then people with accounts on my server and domain (dotapple.net) reported that they were receiving similar bounce back letters. I contacted my hosting company and learned that the SMTP/POP server had been used by one of their other clients to send spam, and they were working on resolving the issue. Then I told my dad about this event, and he allowed me to put my powermac on his network, provided he had an administrator account. The problem is solved but AOL gave me a lot of trouble.
