Just spoof an email from the spammer to the "Letters to the Editor" in the NYT criticising the Scientologists.... that spammer'll be slapsuited into oblivion.
Switching is not hard. Performance in the old style of typing is only slowed by the same amount as if you'd not typed for that period.
Key layout only seems to be an issue for those pushing their products which feature new key layouts. The key layout makes little difference to me. Having the keyboard split and tilted apart at the bottom helps me much more than any specific layout.
Maybe Dr Who didn't get a big run in the USA. It ran every week day for most of my childhood in Australia in the 70s-80s. There were only two channels, so if you weren't watching the news, you were watching Dr Who. In the same time slot they also used to run The Goodies,
The Kenny Everett Video Show and Monkey. Growing up in Australia or England you would certainly have been exposed to all four of these shows as a kid.
My anger over spam has gradually faded into resignation that it's just a part of life for the time being. ISP's like mine use spamassassin, inserting headers that make filtering very easy. Lots of my friends are also embracing mail preview/filtering/erase on server type software like Mailwasher on Windows and SaveMyModem on Linux. While not a cure for spam, they are at least a good painkiller.
Does anyone know a few more programs like this for linux?
I don't think this fellow is looking for a critique on software methods. He's just asking about people's preferred software and how they implement a wiping box.
buy a cheap P3 microatx
get pci cards for firewire, USB2, ATA, SATA and a multi-format SCSCI card
run data & power cables for each type to outside of box
label cables as it might not always be you using the box
Install OS + wiping software
batch a job with your software to wipe E on boot then shutdown after playing an alert
Now you can just sit the victim on top of the computer, hook up the appropriate data/power cables and turn it on. When the music plays you can step away from the job you're on and you've saved a pittance of time for your boss YAY! grumble grumble....
If the drive doesn't work, burn it with all the plastic and styrofoam the storeman couldn't fit in the bin....;)
Funny how experiences can differ so much. I've been using Nvidia for many years since my first TNT and I've had very few problems that weren't caused by other software, my poorly maintained OS or my own strange desire to toy with perfectly working things until they are broken.
attempting to sell the site to Bosley in exchange for removing the disparaging material.
Ok, which is it? Is the offensive team saying he tried to sell them the site, or that he is selling the removal of the disparaging material while retaining ownership of the site? Is English the first language of these Reuter's reporters?
Not much detail given on this "offer". Was it made verbally or is there actually evidence (ie. a document).
Let's have a hypothetical:
1. Man makes disparaging website about company
2. Company threatens man hoping to make him stop
3. Man tells company to take running jump at wall
4. Company consults lawyer, told man is acting legally.
5. Company verbally offers to buy website from man first.
6. Man replies to company refusing all offers until the price becomes so high he is tempted.
7. Company goes to court, fails miserably, then launches appeal that man was cybersquatting based on his acceptance of the huge offer they made for the URL, that they never intended to pay.
Those who possess extreme greed know how it affects people and use it to their benefit...
Communities such as this one have long been considered financially unviable to service providers as the subscriber density was far too low to return high enough profits. If a company displays ignorance and disregard to the service needs of a community in it's early years they can hardly expect to be welcomed into the local market when it becomes profitable.
OK, I just asked my wife about leasing (Bach. Business Accounting + 10yrs with Big4 Bank in Australia) and I'm even more confused than before I asked. Accountants went to university for a reason. Use their knowledge and save yourself another hat fitting.
And don't play the "Oh, well, it doesn't count because it's not a significant portion of his worth". A hungry person doesn't give a damn how much someone had to sacrifice to give him that bowl of soup.
Interesting, and why didn't he donate it to the starving "brown" people in his own country? Maybe the PR payoff would not be as good since they don't have the sympathy of the public.
Using the term brown is about as offensive as using the term white. Anyone who finds it offensive is too sensitive to live among other people. For those I would suggest to try becoming a hermit. I hear it's quite inoffensive.
ven if you're at poverty level, that is you make $9827/year
Australian war widows are paid a pension of approximately US$9200/yr
The unemployed are paid approximately US$4700/yr as are the permanently disabled
None of this matter though, since even Bill Clinton would die from conditions associated with morbid obesity within a year if he ate McDonald's 3 times a day. That would make your total contribution only around $275.
Were these questions asked of the board, the accounts dept or the sysadmin dept? Each would probably give you conflicting answers, that if chosen from carefully, could say pretty much anything you want.
Crime is not a private matter, and drug abuse is not a crime that expires in a matter of "several months".
The penalty for light drug use in Australia is usually a term of community service. After that is served, your crime has 'expired'. Let me guess, you'd jump up and down if a strand of your hair was used to identify you as a potential cancer risk, then used to exclude you from gaining life insurance. All those policy holders will surely be grateful when the scum is swept out of the policyholders pool.
Here in Canada, all members of BlockBuster recieved a brochure outlining the terms of this, and it really isn't all that surprising. Does anyone really expect a video store to allow you to keep a video for as long as you want?
If they specifically advertise that is the case, then yes.
If you knew it was too good to be true, Blockbuster knew it was obviously too good to be true so what was their motivation. Do you think maybe they were targeting the less intelligent half of the population who (a) might believe an odd claim like that and (b) are extremely unlikely to read the terms and conditions and (c) will, in light of this claim, most likely keep movies late and accumulate more late fees improving cash flow to keep the shareholders happy...
Once again, "caveat emptor" is not acceptable business practise when there is real competition.
It was not like Blockbuster was trying to hide the fact you couldn't just keep the video forever
By stating a fact in the wordy terms and conditions and implying the exact opposite in the terse advertisement, it is, by definition, deceptive advertising.
While the corporation needs to be honest/ethical it is just as much part of the consumer's job to be educated.
Absolutely not. Advertising should be aimed at the lowest common denominator, and those poor folk can't even read. There is a far greater onus on the corporation to be honest, ethical and TRANSPARENT. There is no onus on consumers to have a graduate level education so that they can understand what a savvy user like yourself only managed to suspect on first reading.
Those who advocate "caveat mptor" to justify coporate deception are invariably highly educated, self centred and completely and utterly devoid of any empathy. Just because a practise is not illegal doesn't make it good business. Check out how empty any Blockbuster store is and see if that is also what the "shareholders" want?
Let me assure you that if he walked into the head office of Blockbuster to talk about the issue he would still only get to talk to the receptionist and she would still provide the official big business black box of ignorance. She won't have any answers and she won't have access to anyone that does....at the moment they're all in meetings....
If you must cornhole someone in a store, make it the manager because at least he's being paid well to cop the blowback from his bosses dishonest advertising.
Just spoof an email from the spammer to the "Letters to the Editor" in the NYT criticising the Scientologists.... that spammer'll be slapsuited into oblivion.
They'd better hurry up and patent that one before Apples steals it.... again...
man.... that's cruel and unusual!
Sorry Ben, ethics are checked at the door when you take on shareholders.

Seems to be about the only thing a router could do to improve a gamer's experience

The Catholic church says evolution is a fact. Your "disclaimer" post is blasphemy!
Burn The Heretic!!!!!

Um, move out of the sticks? Anyone forcing you to live there? Talk about snivelling...
Um, who will grow your food then? Cities exist because rural populations feed them. Talk about ignorant...

Congrats. You're in the game! Just keep running and you'll eventually find a torch...
Seriously, you are going to wear a groove in your voicebox if you wheel out that old chestnut too often...

" I don't know why they pick on BlockBuster when the auto industry gets away with murder."
Let me answer that in two words, "campaign contribution". Actually, another two words I'd like to add are "political prostitutes".
