What's up with that? So they only have names when they're American scientists?
The submitter did a 1/2assed job, obviously, but he didn't name the student either I doubt he mean't any disrespect to Mr.R when he called him "a self taught math genius". I doubt Mr.R. would be offended by the article's hurried lack of detail. Only EHT's looking to bignote themselves to other EHT's by baselessly whining about USA, would be offended.

Turn your Karma modifier option off in preferences. Otherwise you'll only get to read responses that filter thru the strange deluded mind of moderators who give PCL's like the parent post a +4 Insightful.

The existing human viruses could take huge leaps in lethality or virulence as a result of mutations - for example higher powered flu's or airborne variants of existing body fluid transmission viruses.

The point was that providing a blended species host could allow a virus that could previously only survive in species A to now survive in species B as well. Not such an unrealistic idea.

It's probably safe to say that standard evolution, as the parent post describes, will continue.

How will that $10 be made up in the revenue stream? It won't be. The business of gouging artists will simply become less profitable and players satisfied with reasonable profits will take over. Maybe cheap commodity hardware will make recording studios obsolete.... notlikely but maybe Worst case scenario, pirates (yarr) starve the entire industry completely to bankruptcy. The next day, in spite of every record exec in the country being bankrupt, an artist somewhere will create a beautiful song. Don't confuse the slow death of the recording industry with the death of music.

The species in which the viral infection usually takes place has been blended with another previously incompatible species in a way that would otherwise be impossible in nature. This provides a possible grounds for the virus to evolve to cope with survivial in the body of a previously incompatible species. That is, broadly speaking, how this situation differs from the status quo. -- none so blind as those who won't see

  25. Re:Orkut itself is part of the problem on Hatemongering Becoming A Problem On Orkut · · Score: 0

Were they who they said they were?
Orkut or any chat groups can be hijacked by racists, sexists, whateverists that offends you. Trolls rarely use their real name, age, sex or *nationality*. I wouldn't recommend moulding someones racial tolerances around what a troll enters in the nationality text field of a chat website subscription form.

Why isn't the whole world multi-lingual?
The reason many people of the world are multi-lingual is that they share borders, trade and recreational ties with foreign-language speakers. America only shares borders with 2 foreign speaking nations, French-speakers in Canada and Spanish-speakers in Mexico. Amanzingly enough, many who live in areas near to these borders are.....gasp.... multilingual. The lack of a multi-lingual American majority can't be conveniently blamed on laziness or ignorance where the problem is their proximity to foreign-language speakers. Obviously an Italian street vendor doesn't particularly want to learn Italian, French, German and English, but he needs the knowledge to sell effectively to ethnically diverse customers. People are usually multi-lingual by necessity, rarely by choice.

    Am I American?
Before anyone jumps up and down about me being American, I'm not. I'm Australian. We're a bit like Americans.... only smaller and we drive on the other side of the road (the proper side!) :)

English only means language, not race
In the context of these forums, I suspect "English Only" means "you can only post in English". Only the most sensitive of types with the most intense of inferiority complexes would genuinely interpret it to means "only those with English as their first-language can post". Of course if a bigot wanted to whip up some anti-Western hysteria, conveniently misinterpreting "English only" to be some kind of racial slurr is an excellent place to start.

Misinterpretation.... a window to better bigotry!
