Sounds like an awesome idea! :) Hell, maybe I'd actually watch TV then(other than Fox News, and a coupla a sitcoms, I don't watch too much TV).

Well the real world doesn't stop Cox from blocking port 21, 80(not just port 80, it actual filters incoming HTTP packets), IRC, and NNTP. I feel abused.

It works OK for me, though my Windows 2k parition is on a seperate hard drive from my FC2 one, and I only had it install GRUB to the first part of the FC2 partition. I'm using Acronis OS Selector as my bootloader.

Well, last time I checked the internet more or less formed from a Defense Dept project. The car was basically first mass-produced by Henry Ford. The telephone was invented by Alexander Graham Bell, and the light bulb by Edison. Maybe Americans aren't the ones who are "stupid"....

  5. Cox does it too on Comcast Warns Infringing Customers Of Abuse · · Score: 1

Cox, already does this. Luckily, it is pretty easy to BS them, they're not exactly the sharpest knives in the drawer. Unfortunately, though, I've hear that if someone complains about you three times, they'll cut off your service whatever your excuse is. And it really sucks since there's not too many other ISP's around here (in Wichita, KS). *prays for SpeakEasy to come here and liberate us from these bastards, Cox*. Luckily though, you can improve your safety quite a bit by using Protowall or other blacklisting software.

Yeah, I'd kinda agree with the geek code thing. People should have to pass a test about computers and vulnerabilities before they are able to access the internet.

While Open Source is awesome, and god bless it, refusing to put in support for stuff like MP3s and NTFS isn't going to help Linux gain more users. A friend of mine who recently tried Linux (RH9 I think), was turned off by the fact that he would have to download and RPM and stuff to use MP3s. He also wanted to access the NTFS drive on his computer. And I know you can recompile to kernel w/ NTFS support, but people who are just starting to use Linux, don't want to have to go through all that trouble.

When people who are just sharing a couple of files, could be put in prison. People here in the US, write your senators and representitives, hell even if you don't live in the US, just email a few, saying you're one of their consitutents, it wouldn't hurt. If anything the companies like M$, and Adobe, and the RIAA and MPAA should be put in prison for stealing from consumers. The minute amount that may or may not be taken from those companies profits by P2P, is nothing compared to the price gouging that they do. Just look on M$'s website under the corporate section. It says 10 billion dollars in quarterly revenue. Do you really think they need any more? And hell, I'm a republican. Maybe also email judges and governors, asking them to challenge this bill.

  11. Blocking .mail emails on SpamHaus Behind .mail Top-Level Domain · · Score: 1

Why don't some people get together, and make a petition type thing, like saying, that if this happens, all the signers will block .mail email's from their mail server. It might encourage some companies and organizations who would be for it to reconsider if their emails will be blocked by quite a few people.

While I'm not made fun of, this really reminds me of myself. I get good grades, am not real social, about the only person I really talk to much is another kid in school who's into computer as well. He's somewhat the same, but to a lesser extent. Hell, I'm a freshman in highschool, and I've never been on a date, and the prospects for that happening in the next 3 years, aren't exactly very high.
