  1. That's EXACTLY what it's like! on A Savant Explains His Abilities · · Score: 0
At least for me anyway. I have a mild form of autism known as Aspergser's syndrome.

My "Savant" ability relates to 3 dimensional puzzles. I can disassemble, reassemble and reverse engineer any mechanical or electrical system. For me this is natural. I just "See" how things go together.

But people are a whole 'nother story. Basic human interaction is this ultra complex unsolvable puzzle. It's like the box and half the pieces are missing, the image has faded, and the cardboard is falling apart.

It just doesn't make any sense.

The only way I can deal with this is to build these immense mental lists of human interaction protocol.
Things like: Smile; look people in the eye 1/3 of the time during conversation; do not over obsess with people or objects; intonate voice, do not scream in public, etc.

I find this a bit peculiar. I myself am autistic.

I do have trouble looking people in eyes. Often I won't even face people wile talking to them.

However, I also have an enormous porn collection that puts most servers to shame (300,000+ pics/vids).

The interesting thing is it's all female; no men, nor even phallic references are shown. I also hate sports, and would rather have a root canal than watch "dominant" males.

Is this normal, or simply another instinct I am missing?

In Asia, these releases are big business for a lot of computer stores. You feed your ego, they feed their family. What a waste of time.

So it's a waste of time for them to feed their families? I don't mean to flame, but this line of thinking pisses me off.

The reasons "Pirated" software is so prevalent in third world are economic difference and spite. When they can get the real software, or an identical pirated version, why would they care to pay the equivalent of a week's wage to support some rich programmer (by their standards) they never met on the other side of the world, when they can get the pirated version for a fraction of the price.

In a round-about manor, I got some for fixing an ex-girlfriend's computer.

A few months back, she calls, and offers me $100 to fix her computer. I reinstall windows; install office, updates, ad-aware, etc...

About a month later I get another call from her. She's depressed, lonely, looking for some weed and some action. I make a few phone calls, find some weed ($50), pick up condoms ($5), and pay the roommate to drive me to her place ($20). We did the deed. When all is said and done, I got some nookie and $25 for an hour's work. ;)

I see this as a great step forward in technology for the disabled. (It reminds me of those things Logan wore in Dark Angel.) If any of you have ever been confined to a wheelchair for any length of time you know what I mean. My personal opinion has long been that, if a technology does not improve the quality of living for someone, then it is pointless. Also, any technology that benefits the disabled is of great importance.

It's a shame that these things will probably be locked up and secured for "military use only" by the government. After all, we wouldn't want terrorists to get them (sarcasm).
