Ummm, people seem to forget that it was our money to begin with. It's the private sector that creates wealth.
I don't want to fund NASA and Welfare and Social Security, etc, etc. I think that most of what the federal government does could be handled better by private concerns. But, if I don't pay taxes, I will be imprisoned. So, tend to vote for people who cut my taxes, unless there is something they stand for that is more important to me than my wallet.
Besides, most of the time when you hear about "budget cuts" they are cutting dollars from the proposed budget, which was higher than the previous budget, and the programs' budgets are actually increased (but not as much as they would have liked).

My experience has always been that MS servers are a huge pain in the butt and expensive to keep licensed and running.
Linux and BSD servers much less so; they're not quite as stable and exploit-free as Novell servers or mainframes, but much better than Windows and much more flexible than any of them.
Really? I always thought it "open as in beer" like, you open a beer, right? Just like you open up your source code... they both go "FSSSHHH" and have that wonderful yeasty aroma.
MMMMM. Nothing like a tall, cold glass of source code after mowing the lawn on a hot day.
Ah, modded down by one of those oh-so-liberal lovers of free speech (that they agree with) and other Constitutional rights (except for the 2nd Amendment).
I just assumed that they spent more time actually teaching, since their results seem to be better for far less cost per student.
In fact, don't European countries get better results for less cost per student? Why is that? Obviously the answer isn't teacher's salaries, yet the NEA continues to cynically cite salary as a major factor in the low scores of American students. It's almost as if they intentionally do a poor job so as to get a raise. Now, I don't believe that for a moment, but that's what it seems like after a casual glance over the actual statistics.
Yes. We must tax the people until they squirm, then, when the government has ALL the money, they won't waste it anymore... err, um, I think I left the stove on, I gotta go.
There is already a Federal mandate allowing abortion in Roe vs. Wade. If it were up to the states, some of them would undoubtedly choose to make it illegal. So, I guess you are saying that Roe vs. Wade is unconstitutional? Or not, because you agree with it?
The average American teacher's salary is higher than that of the average Japanese teacher. The difference is probably that, while American teachers spend 2/3 of class time "teaching" "self-esteem", Japanese teachers are teaching math, grammar, and history.
BTW, NYC gets a bad rap. It's not even on the top 25 most dangerous cities in America.
Even $*&%&* IT people who should know better don't change the default of 800x600, even if it's on a ^*%* high-end flat-screen that only looks good at 1280x1024.
After all- the Ivy League is almost as bad as schools in India- the top 25% of diplomas are always reserved for the rich.
Do you have any evidence of this or is it purely conjecture?. That's a pretty serious accusation against a school that prides itself on academic rigor. Well-connected students fail out of Harvard all the time.
I wonder what that brain scan thingy would make of me.
I think you would overload it with clear thinking.
High five, fellow libertarian!
*slap*
... the computers of people with high-capacity wallets.
Stocks and bonds. People need to save for retirement. If you don't, too bad, IMHO.

"I'm going to tear your head off and shit down your neck," in the final battle... and then HE ACTUALLY DOES IT!
Let me tell you what you're supposed to be doing. It's for your own good.
The capitalists will only give you what you want, not what your rulers^H^H^H^H^H^H comrades know you need.
I'm sure you'll change your tune if you're ever job hunting again...
Err, what were we talking about?
Hey, give me a break. I'm leaving on vacation tonight. My TODO list is TODONE.
vi todo

Well said. This is the reason I am pro-choice, even though I find the idea of abortion morally reprehensible.
Ah, modded down by one of those oh-so-liberal lovers of free speech (that they agree with) and other Constitutional rights (except for the 2nd Amendment).
Just for the record, I'm pro-choice.

Face it: fighting and dying for freedoms is neither acceptable nor effective anymore, and it is becoming less so.
Translation: I am a spineless tool of tyranny, and you should be, too. Everyone else is doing it.

Crack a book, Sparky.
You have it bass-ackwards, homey.

And they ALWAYS leave it in 16-bit color.
This is at both of the IT jobs I've had.
What the %*&^ is up with that?
... of reading Slashdot for the last 6 years, I would have to say, "Absolutely not."
So that's a "no"?

Really? I didn't know that Harvard gave away MBAs to stupid people.
