They use the word "suspects" but they really have probable cause and Google has being trying not to comply with DA's subpoenas for a long time now. Here is the underlying difficulty with comparing different legal systems.
This practice might be common and acceptable in Brazil.
Its a nice idea but many of the previous attempts to disable or block phones that were stolen are easily worked around.
Most stolen phones that are blocked can easily be reenabled by flashing them with a new firmware which changes the phones IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number. This unique number is is used for among other things identify phones that are reported stolen. Blocking the SIM card is easily circumvented by changing the SIM.
Unless phones are designed with the IMEI set at the factory on a part of the phone's memory that cannot be changed, these new measures are useless.
I hope everyone see that they are not simply donating spare cycles that cost you nothing.
Modern computers enter a powersaving mode in the times their CPU is not busy. Enabling Folding@Home or SETI@HOME on your machine consumes these powersaving cycles and draws more power.
Leave these programs running for a month and check out the huge difference in your power bill.
Ironically, the distributed system to calculate climate change could actually contribute to it!!
And with this change, every mac on the internet will become even more secure than their Windows based counterparts.
Not if they keep using old unsupported software..
Nothing will force them to change from IE. Arguably this makes them even less secure.
Agreed, the I hate Roland bandwagon is getting really tiring. Its a sad state of affairs when useless comments knocking the submitter get +5 interesting.
No one forces you to read them. They are frequently some of the more interesting articles, even if he just finds them and submits them.
Parent, Dragonfly is pretty unusable in its current state.
Most of the entries in ports are broken and the team even insist it is only for development use.
If it can sustain its initial growth it could be a BSD contender in some time. But not just yet!
If you are doing your backups properly you should be storing them in a secure location.
IE a big fire-proof safe. You don't need encryption if they are stored correctly.
That said we store them in a big secure firesafe with the key sitting on top of it;)

Its Installer is a breeze to use and rarely have problems with com mon hardware.
OpenBSD's Install is a nightmare for a new user (last time I used it!) and is clearly aimed at the security concious user. (The tin foil hat distro hehe)
I have never used NetBSD but its claim to fame is the sheer number of platforms it supports.

Maybe people that don't want cobbled together rips of differing quality.

Those wifi injection attacks can only be done with two wifi cards. Or so I am led to believe.
Save buying two if this can be done..
You need two Wifi cards to do some man in the middle attacks..
;)
Will this make it easier
I laughed alot. Thank you kind sir :)

Grrrr. I installed it, now my network scans are crippled. In particular VNCon.
Any slashdotters got any solutions apart from ditching SP2?
Not no more
No mplayer included. tut tut :)
Heres a link just in case. Mirror
Maybe the BSD troll is dying :)
Netcraft confirms the FreeBSD troll is dying blah blah
Thanks for the info must give it another go if thats the case.
I would go with FreeBSD if I was in your shoes.

Ordinary Java apps arn't sandboxed. They run with full privilages. Sandboxing only makes sense with applets.
