This is the philosphy of M$, they tried so hard to steal/subvert java and make a windows only version. Of course now they call it C#.
Just because not all multi-platform applications are outstanding is not a logical argument against trying to implement them. That's not to say that M$ single platform apps are all that either. Open source doesn't have 100+ million dollar R&D budgets like LoseDoze or Orafice3000, but some of the projects come pretty close to the same quality.
I am leading a group of engineers trying to harness the incredible power of stupidity. Did you know that some tv shows, commercials and press releases are a great untapped source of power?
However, if you look at practical use in everyday situations metrics are not as easy to use. In some cases accuracy gets in the way. Ok I'll shut up and go watch my 50cm TV.
Or to quote another line:
"What the hell, he thought, you're only young once, and
threw himself out of the window. That would at least keep
the element of surprise on his side." -- Ford outwitting a Vogon with a rocket launcher
As quoted in the most authoritative work on extra terrestrial life THGG by Doug Adams.
It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the products of a deranged imagination.
Will the car's DNA be admissable? Will they test the gas for steroids or the oil for amphetamines? Will the car have to comply with the laws of Robotics?
Actually Drug-Taking was based on various stories including "A Scanner Darkly". Also the reason Total Recall was mediocre was that PKD had nothing to do with it, and of course Arnold did.
But doesn't he play all of his characters the same as Ted, or Evil Ted, with maybe 10 more IQ points. At least Bill and Ted were funny, (oh yeah so was Matrix 3)
fuel efficient cars? We haven't come all that far from the late '70's so excuse me if I am pessimistic.
Wouldn't more energy be saved if people turned their computers off when they are not using them?
Most languages refuse to die even when they are of no further use or I should say other languages are much more useful and efficient at doing the same job.
If this were the case in "real life" we'd be speaking Celtic2004 or LatinIso3

Actually the real modernizers use base64 and then encrypt it.
Once enough people use alternate browsers, the hackers will target those applications. Good choice.

Or a pitcher (2 quarts or 3 litres?????) of beer

Or, how big is your yard? Mines about a quarter acre.
So THOSE were the guys stripping the rover in the pepsi comercial
Ah, but what color is it when there's no one around to see it?

When the real space station is ready. The one with the Holiday inn.

Funny but just to be a semantic jerk a myth is not a hypothesis. Fabled is better. Ouch stop hitting me!

I run Comanchero a breakaway tribe of Apache and one of my mods is a coke machine built in to my server case.
I only use mine for side scrollers and ascii based games. I've always wanted to play Hunt the Wumpus 3d.
You left out French, Spanish, Arabic, Sanskrit and Cobol. So how many of those languages are still being used as a seperate entity?

Prue and Piper Charmed sux as much as Friends does.
We'll only care about space after the invasion. PS Great article
Why not make plug and play operating systems on rom chips?
Then we wouldn't care how many got killed in Iraq
