They just need to be slapped silly with the notion of who has to prove what, and that an unproven claim is null and void and not to be taken any more seriously than opinionated gossip overheard on a plane.
People who spell that company's name "Micro$oft" give me flashbacks to 1997. Firstly because they need to grow up, and secondly because they haven't moved on since then.
I'm from New Zealand. I'm about the only person running Linux in the whole country. New Zealanders haven't had the 'large' exposure to computers without the coloured-flag that the rest of the world has.
New Zealand is a very Microsofty country in the fact that its perceived as what 'normal' computers run.
Granted, the internet in NZ is the same as anywhere else but what I mean is that there has been no big push. Recently the government opted out of purchasing more MS Office licences for the Apple computers in all schools. All schools had to erase all MS Office software from every Mac they had.
They now use that Mac port of OpenOffice.
But thats about it. Eeeeeverything is 'I can use MS Office, gimme a job'.
I agree though about what that dude said about using web standards. It should all be W3C based. Microsoft tried binaryizing the web with ActiveX and that resulted in a pile of turds. Web browsers are amazingly advanced as it is without leaving text based formats.
How spooky. I really wonder about that car seat though. First the FBI know where the car is, and then suddenly they find Reiser dumping the car somewhere?
And why won't Reiser talk about the car seat?
There are many questions. I don't think that us slashdot nerds are the right people to be evaluating the pros & cons. Especially since we only have third-party information.
Saying that, - it is important that Reiser gets his word out and gets a defense. I don't want NTFS to take over the world.

Absolutely brilliant post. Dead on the mark.
OK plug a hard drive into Windows without it mounting the volumes, so you can examine the byte data.
Separation of applications and physical hardware via abstraction layers (an API) is something you've never heard of before it seems.
You can. Use either an embedded player with a streaming codec, or use Ogg Vorbis which should be natively supported by the new HTML sexyness.

Microsoft haven't changed since 1997.
Genius
bump :)
Good link.
I have actually spotted car advertisements in 3 news, presented as articles. I couldn't believe my eyes.
You are a genius. I here-by claim your idea under the BSD license.
AHhahAHaHAhAHahahahaa!!

So does this mean god didn't create everything? I saw an episode of family guy where god lit one of his farts & it made the big bang
Microsoft paying people to say they like its stuff? A new low, even for Bill.

What is it with Broadcom? This sounds like the same kinda rubbish that is stopping my wireless from working natively in Linux.
Cooool. Good to see that Direct3D isn't on -everything-.
