Tortured? Really? I'm sure this Journalist would have given a kidney to be put up in the resort of Guantanamo and have them do their worst then to have to endure Iranian prisons and REAL torture. Get your facts straight before spouting off.
Well its a balance. The Students have to be motivated and that comes from the parents. At the same time the educator has to be educated and be able to pass that knowledge along. If they either don't graps the knowledge or can't teach then the knowledge transfer probably will not happen unless the student is super motivated and just reads the textbook and does a bunch of independant research.
Freakonomics showed this statistically to be true as well. They looked at students who entered a lottery to go to a new charter school. The parents had to register the students for the lottery. They showed that ALL the kids who entered the lottery did better in school if they went to the charter school (they won the lottery) or not (they lost the lottery). The point was that if their parents cares enough to enter them in the lottery then they would do better then the majority of the rest of the school kids. That being said, it is just a waste of time to send your kid to a crappy school. My wife for instance learns new things that I was taught in 8th grade. Her school almost got taken over by the State and mine was one of the top in the state.
The Sole Proprietorship doesn't operate from a PHYSICAL ADDRESS. What part of that are people missing. Yes, she has to pay taxes on the net income. No she does not need a business license. If she blogs on the road from San Francisco then will she suddenly need a business license there? Come on people. This is simple and easy to understand. Business Licenses are tied to PHYSICAL LOCATIONS!
No it IS extortion. Think of it this way. This country was founded because we didn't want to be taxed without represenation. Yet that is exactly what happens now and with this fee the business is probably taxed on the same income like 3 or 4 times. Its complete bullshit. Just set one level of taxation on net profits and stop making up phony fees to padd your wallet you stupid fucking politicians! One of these days people are going to wake up and demand the fair tax be instituted.
No. You are so ignorant. It is a "business privilege license" not a tax and it is required by the city. However this is bullshit because she does not DO BUSINESS in the city. She could just write her blog while on a road trip across the country. Why would the city need to collect this fee? What is the point. Of course she has to pay taxes on Net Profit but she does not need to hire an accountant to do that. She has no place of Business so the city is completely out of line asking her to maintain a Business License.
Nobody said she was trying to get out of paying taxes. In fact she did pay taxes. But there should be no fee since she doesn't have a physical location she operates out of.
Yes it IS relevant. You filed an LLC which is a form of corporation which is tracked nationally in a database and limits your liability. She is a Sole Proprietorship (which is default and if you do business under your own name). She should not have to pay anything since she didn't file for anything. You can legally do business under your own name without a filling. You can also be a Sole Proprietorship with a DBA or Ficticious Business Name. Neither suddenly means you need a Business License. Those are generally revenue generating rackets on the behalf of local cities which give you nothing. You wouldn't need one unless you had an address within the city that you did Business at. This doesn't mean your home if you happen to do work there. However if you put up a sign and invited retail clients to your home then you would need a Business License. It would still be a rip off and the locality would give you nothing in exchange except a pretty peice of paper that you have to display.
The government has basically one job. Provide security. This includes defense, police, fire, paramedic, and border security. That's it. Anything else you can cut and I won't shed a tear. You are the ignorant one here.
Yes, and how did the "Draft all the Ameican boys into the Army" route fair? I'll answer for you. It sucked ass! Volunteer Army is the way to go. That and pay people a fair wage for putting their life on the line and don't give them shitty weapons that jam all the fucking time like the M-16A1. The A3/A4 almost never jam but those didn't exist back then.
Learn the difference between mine and bomb. The minfield would have been a deterent. It would have stopped the VC advance because mines don't explode on impact but instead later if they decided to come out of their caves and make an advance.
Because the failure was in planning. If you create a minefield of that scale then you have to fence it in and man it 24/7 from both sides. This is exactly what exists in Korea.
I will agree though, having some mac offerings in the midrange (Mac Pros are serious overkill for gaming) that you can swap out the video and sound systems would be nice.
Exactly! This is the problem. A Mac Mini is a good value but if I buy the equivalent Dell (which I did today) I get a case I can open and upgrade. In order to get that with a Mac I have to spend almost twice as much. This is useful for things like upgrading the internal storage or getting an update video card two years down the road.
Here is the thing I don't understand. Why did they even put boots on the ground? They should have just air dropped a million mines across the middle of the country and called it a day. Then invade Camboia and Laos to make sure the VC didn't do an end run around the minefield.
The next person that says "teabagger" and then equates the tea party with something it doesn't even stand for is going to instantly burst into flames. I swear this is going to fucking happen. Just try it!
Even if speeding is a subset of bad driving, it is the one that is the least dangerous. More dangerous things include: Lane sharing, changing lanes while pushing existing cars out of them, failure to yield, failure to signal, failure to pull over or just plain stop when an emergency vehicle is approaching you, driving in the shoulder/emergency lane... and on and on. Basically everything is more dangerous then speeding and most of those things are impossible to enforce without actual police on the streets enforcing them.
Exactly. And to compare I shoot my DSLR on RAW and the files are about 23MB each. My total photo collection is at 1.5 TB right now and growing. At a typical event I will shoot 22GB of new photos. Then the good ones get exported to JPG or TIFF and take up even more space.
I'm not just spouting conjecture. I personally asked a few people who voted for Obama if they knew his platform and they did not. They voted for him because it was "Historic". Their words, not mine.

Bullshit. If you sell hotdog you pay for a license because you have a PHYSICAL ADDRESS. Blogging is not tied to a locality!

Licencing your first ammendment rights, you say? And I thought licensing was just for second ammendment rights...
Haha, good point!

You might want to tell North and South Korea that they are not at war. They would be glad for the update.

Here is the graph updated for June 2010. Windows 7 will surpass Vista any month now but has a way to go on XP. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Operating_system_usage_share.svg
BF: BC3? You would play as Russians but close enough.
