Actually, you can turn the write buffer off. But that's not even required because Hard Drives really should have enough capacitors on them to clear the write buffer before they spin down. That is IF they were not designed by morons.
I would propose that those who abuse their Senatorial Power on the Senate floor are much more dangerous then those who take actions which affect one or two people in their personal life.
Because most people understand that it will kill e-commerce if website now have to pay for bandwidth to their servers and for the bandwidth to the end users (Which the end user is paying for already by the way).
She does. She supports the "Fairness Doctrine" even though it will actually be a restriction on Free Speech. I sent a message to her via her website about it but of course I never got a reply.
The first sentence is true. The latter is false. If you want to go down that road then let me explain. There are only a few broadband companies in the United States of America. In addition they employee very few people compared to other types of companies. This said... almost every other corporation in the US is a customer of these few companies. So IF they were REALLY thinking of the PEOPLE (Corporations at large as a general interest) THEN they would be SUPPORTING NET NEUTRALITY!!!!
It is not faster but it is MORE stable. The main reason is that even if it does crash it keeps the session and can restore from it. IE doesn't do this.
You do what?! Do you realize how insecure IE6 is? Do you realize that they basically gave up fixing certain security holes in it because they were fundamental to the design? The only real Security Update for IE6 is in fact IE7 or Firefox. IE6 is garbage. It is prone to drive-by downloads of malware and browser hijacking even when no user input is provided.
There is a difference from having laws on the books making something illegal to creating the monstrous government agencies which don't even care about the public good (THE Department of Real Estate for example) and just care about securing their own jobs.
Your post is spot on. The solution to the perceived problem by the way is two-fold. Add checks and balances to prevent direct democracies from voting pork barrel spending upon themselves and step two is to reduce the size of government overall. Yes, investment in Infrastructure is still needed by Government and they still need to run the police and fire dept. But over that it's all "cruft" as you say and we should abolish it.
Think outside the box for a moment. Nothing you brought up could not be fixed with a simple mechanism. You could still hit "save as" when you wanted a snapshot of a document but the point is that the document will persist even though you lost power in the middle of typing it.
California's problem is related to immigration and not Gun control. Dump a few hundred thousands illegals into another state in the Union and see what the crime rate does.
I just want to say that the parent is absolutely right. In fact some games (Shadowrun) came out and said the required DX10 when in fact they did not as a ploy to try to get people to "Upgrade" to Vista for gaming. Moments later a hack was out that let it run on XP with DX9.
Pfft... Why? So they can pay more. So they can be forced to call customer service because the registrars website doesn't work right and then they have to listen to a sales pitch just to update their MX records? I've been with GoDaddy for years and never had to call them and everything just works! Plus they save me money!

You got me there.

Oh God, I forgot I was posting to SlashKos.

Basically she could be declared the most corrupt and evil Senator ever except Ted Kennedy won that award already.

I guess you never heard of an undo history.

You mean the Xbox won't have 7 different versions? I'm so disappointed.

Wow, I ask one simple question and you manage to completely side step it.
Because it is funnier that the cracked version equals happy.
Do you mind citing sources? Do you mind giving facts to backup your wild claim?
