    I'm no longer a debian user, but as far as gentoo:

    how long does it take a package maintainer to:
    - notice bug report for version bump
    - change filename on the package's .ebuild, or at worst change a few variables
    - ebuild foo.ebuild digest
    - submit to portage tree

    (I believe this is about how things work, correct me if I'm wrong)

    yeah, one of the companies (I forget which, they had several laptops on display) at LWE was showing one off. It was somewhat of a pain to use though, because you had to position yourself in a certain spot for optimal viewing (although there was a bit of leeway, really)

    I try to show up for work early mainly because the baltimore beltway is prone to closure/accidents/delays caused by idiots slowing down to read the signs saying there might be delays/etc and on a good day it's a 45 minute hike to work.

    Although I ought to stop talking like I'm working right now, considering I'm at college with a 13-credit load...

    I work 7:00 until the time known as "whenever the hell I'm at a good place to stop working" which can be as early as 3:00 if I skip lunch, or as late as ... well, however long it's legal to work for.

    Consider yourself lucky.

    (fortunately, I'm paid hourly.)

    yep, trying to move 10 yards in 8 steps while turned at 40 or so while playing a marching baritone (the oversized trumpet type) will teach you to glide step *very* quickly.

    There's even a widget in kde's control panel for subpixel font antialiasing (which I'm assuming is what cleartype is)

    Not that I bother to use it, since I run at 1600x1200...

    people did (and probably still do) that with mobile XP 2500+'s and such because you could get them up to very high clock speeds even air-cooled due to the low power requirements.
