    Microsoft has a monopoly on phones? When did that happen? I think you'll find that the 'open' Android is much closer to a monopoly. Then again most of us using Android are in the same place as the Windows Phone users. Manufacturers and Carriers would rather sell us a new phone.

    Well, this tech should be able to do it. A side effect of monitoring the bays is that you get stats on usage.

    Java programs = JVM programs Java support in the browser creates incentive to write Java applets: write once, run everywhere. Been there, done that. Didn't get a t-shirt.

    Exactly my point. The ex-Tandy is too small for TVs and other big items, but they carry a slightly different range.

    They can't sell it as new. They mark it as returned stock. Places like Dick Smith even have stickers they use to mark such stock. I see it on lots of DTV antennas at the shop across the road. Maybe Dick Smith should be more like Dick Smith and properly label returned goods.

    Dick Smith now, no Electronics. Their marketing head thought that meant fridges and things, so they changed the name. I went to the big across from work today and couldn't find a USB wall charger. I found one at the former Tandy further down the street. They've gone completely consumer and can't even handle that.

    I've seen all of that. We're stuck on Firefox 3.6 or IE8 because Oracle can't give us an answer about supported browsers. Given that they're already on the way out, they're not big on support. We don't know what's going to replace them but it won't be fun. At least we've dumped IE6.

    My biggest bit of fun lately has been developers that think the right-click is OK in a browser interface. Management love their iPads and need to talk to their software.

    First one they've built. They bought one from Australia back in the '80s. Officially it was scrap, but they used it for training and development.

    Most likely because there are more legitimate ports than not. You port your number and the bank shuts you out. Happy customers then storm the local branch.
