I can't either, but it seems like a WaHoO, or something, like, dude, maybe KaZoO? I give up, somebody enlighten us.

The Media has been messed up for some time now. How long have you been living in a hole? I mean, being a geek is great and all, but so is the outside world! :)

What is the world coming to...

I fervently hope that this law is repealed soon.

I would like to comment also that while us American Citizens do not appreciate this law, in essence it is our fault that it came into being. If we are so worried about our "rights" then we need to Get Out There And Fight For Them!!!

  4. I see the future in gaming... on How Important Are Mature Videogames To The Industry? · · Score: 3, Insightful

in "Optional" mature content. How many awesome games were NOT sold due to some kid's parents saying it was too violent/had too much cussing/etc?

I understand that some people want "mature" content in their video games. But make it optional. Call of Duty has the blood as an optional setting. Halo: Combat Evolved does too, at least in the pc version, albeit disguised as "texture quality".

My suggestion is to have options like so in all video games, with a few exceptions, of course. Let the end user decide if he wants the gore. Cussing, naturally, isn't as easy to censor optionally, and I see no reason to have two different meshes for all female characters... one in the bikini, the other mesh with full-length dress, that's just nonsense. ;)

Is "Mature" necessary to the video game industry? Yes and no. Yes in the sense that some gamers won't buy games unless they have "mature" content in them, but no in the sense that a game has to have "mature" content or it won't sell well.

I would like to state that I stated my previous comment BEFORE I went and played a game online for 6 hours straight... and no, my mom didn't know. :)

I'm not lying... near 6 hours straight!

  6. Re: Not as Brainless as TV on Playing Games Seen as Brainless Hobby? · · Score: 3, Interesting

Right. But most of the non-gamers I know see it more as "Oh he spends all his time shooting zombies on his computer". They don't understand that it IS strategy, and in some cases, even more strategic then Risk or Battleship board (Bored?) games.

My mom and dad especially, see it as brainless, as do most of my friends parents. I find it a very enjoyable pursuit, however!

  7. A waste of time? No. But all good things... on Playing Games Seen as Brainless Hobby? · · Score: 5, Insightful

Should be used in moderation. Is eating chocolate bad? No. Is eating a pound of chocolate a day bad? Yes. What I'm trying to say is that there is nothing wrong with video games, or tv, for that matter, if used in moderation. But if you watch, or play, videogames/tv for 3 hours straight, I can't necessarily say that's good for you. I do think, though, that online games have more "interaction" then any other form of digitalized entertainment. And they are a great way to unwind at the end of the day.

  8. I play games to escape... on Can Games Address Serious Social Issues? · · Score: 1

Or imagine myself somewhere else. I don't WANT to have to worry about a real-life social issue when I'm playing Halo online. I just want to kill enough people to win or get the flag before the other team gets mine.

As far as social interaction on Halo, it doesn't go much farther then yelling "Bitch" to the banshee whores and cussing at the teammate who let Red steal our flag... again.

Halo isn't the point or topic, I know.

But no social interaction (faked or real) is just the way I like it. I'm a perfectly intelligent creature in normal conversation but Gaming is the time I can get away, escape it all, as I said. And I wouldn't change it to anything else for the world.

  9. Personally... on Are Game Magazines Turning Into Men's Magazines? · · Score: 1

I wish they'd quit with the all-sex games and make more games in the 3rd person Adventure Genre.

Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb comes to mind as an adequate adventure game, with the bonus of a really hot chinese chick named Mei Ying. And no, Indy couldn't keep his eyes off her either. :-)

Sure, sex sells, and I understand the whole point is to make money in the video game world. But if I want eye candy I can get it for free off the internet, and they're fully nude, too... none of this bikini stuff. And none of this 40 bucks a pop to see two bikini girls fight each other. I'd rather spend my money eslewhere.

And what about Final Fantasy X2? There's another adventure game with a few cute chicks. In both of these games, the bikini-clad girls just ADD TO the game instead of being the WHOLE FOCUS.

    My two cents.
