    the Chem teacher didn't count the question anyway. Which sucked, because I was one of two people who got it right. The question wasn't counted because she didn't say that water had a density of one on the exam.

    test.
    This happened years ago. I had a Chem. test and the question had something to do with densities - I can't remember. But the point is, I remembered that the density of water is one, all the units where metric, and calculating the density, volume, and mass were a no brainer with the metric system.

    I once got into a friendly argument with an engineer over the merits of the metric system. His argument "Foot-Lbs. I know what that is - that's obvious! Newton - what the fuck is a Newton."

    I remember some Discovery piece about another giant meteor hitting around area of the Yucatan several hundred million years ago. I could swear that they were using that crator as evidence of the great die off too.

    I have to read extremely long and boring papers all day. It would be nice to see in the first sentence of a review - it sucks for geeks! or It's great for geeks!

    Sorry, I'm in a crunch, and I don't have patience for long ... writings.

    That would be so cool! I love learning how others' come up with these ideas. Or learning about others creative process. I have some of my own techniques.
    A lot of times when we're brainstorming ideas, we start with "It would be cool if we could ..." A lot of times that's how some products are created. Or my personal favorite
    "It really pisses me off that they do it this way! Why can't they ....!"

    This is actually taught in some inventor/entrepreneur classes these days.

    Can't find a link where he beat the charges for the incident with the 17 y.o.
    Basically, he was aquitted because she flashed him on the street and the judge ruled that because she did it in a public area, she had no expectation of privacy - therefore, it was irrelevant that she was a minor.

    There's a lot of transient traffic and there are a lot of people who like to prey on rich old folks.

    "Courts have ruled that in a public area, you have no expectation of privacy..." - That's how the "Girls Gone Wild" guy got off when he photographed that 17 year-old. Er...I mean, he was aquitted.

    I wish folks would look for other options before getting the Legislatores(sp?) involved! They will only pass laws that will further their career one way or another! Or, as you have suggested, add on to laws to further agendas of their campaign contributors!

    Holy shit! You got me beat.

    I was talking to someone who recruited from a company I used to work for( 1992). She said they would offer $10,000 above what we were getting. Of course, those of us who worked there and got that kind of raise jumped at it. Here's the kicker - we were still under paid compared to others in our area.
    I felt really stupid becuase I took a $8,000 raise and thought I was king shit. Boy, was/am I stupid!

    I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with you. In this day and age of offshoring, outsourcing, downsizing, and any other 'izing', you need to get everything you can up front.

    I've been through too many instances were I was promised all these bonuses and raises only to have them disappear later due to "lack of money." - not because of my performance. I would get these wonderful reviews and then told, "It's too bad it's not in the budget because I'd give you a big raise. I can only afford 3%."
    I would then quit. They were all pissed at me for quitting, but the old saying still holds true: "Money talks, Bullshit walks."

    of what my Dad told me about the CAD/CAM developers. The CS people did a lot of the software, but when it came to the actual engineering calculations, the company hired mathematics doctoral students because they were the only ones who knew the math and had the programming skills. They were cheap too because they were still students.
