"Sitting outside every evening in the shade sipping a lemonade under a mister when it's above 100F is much more enjoyable than shoveling snow every damn week. "
But working everyday in 110 degree heat sucks ass, at least with snow you don't have to work in it when it happens (unless that is your job, e.g Mr. Plow).
i do it already with 3 kids and 70k, and this is with having to pay off 80k in debt (which is not my fault).
I don't have savings currently but once the debt is gone i'll be saving about 15-20k a year (in about 1.5 yrs). Oh to be spat on in the face.. i mean make 100k a yr.
"I stopped playing FPS' because I was bored with the maps. People played the same maps over and over and over and over. It was always a mad rush to the same known locations. While that can be fun too, after a while I need some variety."
That's prolly why TF classic, quake3 and CS were so unpopular.. oh wait.
I see it as another attempt at Valve saying "how can we "improve" this already established franchise", unfortunately improving for valve means splitting the fan base and decimating a popular game.
But cold water also acts like a solid at times.
Unless you're trying to walk on it - then it acts like a banana.
And when you're trying to stick your tongue to it, then it acts like an adhesive.
"I have no emotional connection to some cheesy pop song or a tetris block but I've had both run through my mind while laying in bed whether I wanted to or not."
I don't know.. i'll grant my first post wasn't the best example but i feel accomplished when a pass a level, beat an online opponent, level up my mmorpg character..
When I look forward to playing a game or going to a lan party i associate it with feelings of happiness, and good times with friends, same with online play...
When I watched the movie Starship troopers I was reminded of zerg rushes in starcraft which was associated with good times/feelings of happiness derived from hours of enjoyment.
When I feel like playing some CS at the end of the day i am sure it is because of the hours of enjoyment I have received from the competition and gameplay.
"with players having less of an emotional connection to in-game events than the events in a book or movie."
Often times I have had a hard time getting to sleep after watching a movie, with re-enactments of Neo fighting agents or Golum chasing the ring rebounding in my mind.
No wait that never happened.. but I have had many a restless night dreaming of defusing a bomb in dust...
Many a broken mouse chucked at a wall after a lost round might disagree also...
"The president of the RIAA has a monocle and stokes a cat all day. "
Oh, so the president of the RIAA burns cats for warmth, I knew it! Thanks for the info but it's not as if we needed any additional ammo to hate this man...
"Does this "opening" include CSI as well, (pause for dramatic effect, put on sun glasses)....or will anyone who accepts this be stepping into rapidly obsolete technology?" BAHWAAAAAAAaaa.
"That's just wrong. AM2 was simply AMD switching to DDR2 RAM. It didn't cause a performance drop, just no immediate performance improvement over socket 939 with DDR"
No i'm pretty sure it's right, AM2 did have some performance drops when it first came out (compared to 939), but this is to be expected as DDR2 has a high latency hit compared to mediocre speed improvements, 533+/- FSB of DDR2 compared to 400 FSB of DDR but double the latency. It is only with going to 800FSB speed DDR2 and beyond that AM2 will show an improvement, but by that point it will be a new socket anyway.
There were 2 types of opterons, the 940 pin (server boards only) and the newly released 939 pin compatible opterons (works in any desktop 939 pin board).. this allowed a better sliding scale in terms of price and performance with a huge motherboard base.
Myself I opted for a lower clocked opteron 939 pin and then just overclocked it to 2.4ghz, got a 300+dollar cpu for 150 bucks (dual core too).
I completely agree, if I could sell my kids into slavery the proceeds would greatly benefit me, unfortunately the president beat me to it with the national debt (and is trying to do it with SS).
"If one makes $1M, one will pay $323,250.50 to the fed, which is $311,385.50 more, or 2624.5% more than you!"
I would gladly trade having 59,000 left over compared to 667,000.
I understand how taxes work, you obviously think that because someone earns more money we should compare how much total money is paid in taxes to show that something is unfair, unfortunately the IRS uses a percentage based on income level.. so who doesn't understand how taxes work?
You know you do make a good point tho, I bought a stick of gum and paid 7 cents in sales tax, when i bought my car I paid over 2000 dollars in sales tax.. Wait what was your point?

I will not watch them. I hardly go to the movies anymore... i'm PAYING for cable, ads were not in the contract i signed.
hmm, well i only saw 18 comments at first and thought i would be the first to chime in but i guess not..
It's "beta". (basically everything is still beta right?)
But I think the real question is "how much will I have to pay per A.S.S. insertion?"
Some places charge a lot for that...
"That patent would have expired in 1970 anyway."
Not if her name was Mrs. Disney
And when you're trying to stick your tongue to it, then it acts like an adhesive.
Mario, Link, Freeman, Solid Snake, Rayman, final fantasy, etc...
Never seen anyone dress up as a video game character that they identified with?

If that's not an emotional attachment what is?

"the top 90% pays over 2/3 of all taxes in this country."
Do you think they should since they hold the same amount of wealth?

"Ah, the bad old days."
It sure made overclocking easier...
When speaking of CSI shouldn't that be:
"Does this "opening" include CSI as well, (pause for dramatic effect, put on sun glasses)....or will anyone who accepts this be stepping into rapidly obsolete technology?" BAHWAAAAAAAaaa.
I think when we get to this limit we can just increase the value range of bits from 0/1 to 0/1/2.
See? Already a 50% improvement in processing power.

Shouldn't it have been redirected to something a little less politically slanted?
Would seeing that the margin is big on turnout dissuade anyone from voting because "their vote wouldn't count"?

you're right, i misread pay "70% of" for "70% in"... thanks, good points BTW.
I love how "some" people like to make it look like the "poor" rich people have to pay SOOO much in taxes.. I wish I had that problem.
