I just moved into the sticks in DE and they have a volunteer fire department, which they call to duty with that siren. The first few times my wife and I heard it, we were nervous to say the least.
Luckily, I had neighbors that would watch us out the window and laugh at us, rather than actually tell us what was going on. After a few weeks, they finally filled us in.
This is something that I've seen coming. When/if SCO loses the IBM battle, all of the these companies that are purchasing IP licenses now should go back and file extortion/fraud suits against SCO.
Question is (and maybe some of you who are more familiar with the laws and verbage used could answer this) would they have a leg to stand on?
I wouldn't really call that a smart decision - but nice try.
From what I understand, iTMS was not put together for a profit - margins are too low to really make much of a profit, it's there simply to boost iPod sales, which it has been quite successful at doing. Making the iTMS a non-iPod-only store, kind of kills the purpose. Now, the idea is that if they offer the best store around, which they do, people will want to purchase an iPod so they can use iTMS store - rather than purchasing *insert iPod ripoff here* so they can use *insert iTMS ripoff here*. It's just another bonus of buying iPod.
Also, think about return customers. If your iPod dies and you've been buying AAC formated files for the past year - do you want to buy an MP3 player that doesn't support AAC?
I worked in a call center for about 1.5 years and it sucked pretty bad. I lost all faith in humanity - I couldn't believe that people were really as stupid as they were. Finally, I'd had too much "What does double click mean?" and "Is the computer the thing that looks like a TV?" and I lost it. I got a new job doing programming and I've never been happier at work.
Though, I've got enough material to put out about 5 books.:)
