In all honesty, there are a number of savings accounts options that are paying 4.5 - 5% interest rates with no fees, no minimum deposits, and online access. A few examples include CapitalOne, INGDirect, Citibank Direct, and Emigrant Savings. These rates are certainly respectible for the short-term compared to the volatility of other investments right now. Putting money in and taking money out takes 1-2 days, so be sure to give yourself a bit of a cushion when you need to withdraw. Given the short-term period over which you're looking to invest, I just don't think you could handle a 10-20% correction (mini-crash) that could easily happen in a month in a mutual fund. As an Econ major (yes, they do exist on/.), there are too many bad factors looming over the economy (gas prices, N. Korea, lack of savings among Americans, etc.) for someone like you to feel safe in a risky investment.
A number of savings accounts from the major banks (Chase, Bank of America) usually offer pretty poor savings rates (usually less than 1%) for accounts with less than $50K (which I assume you are). As such, I would avoid them.
At this year's Harvard-Yale Game, a number of Yale students dressed as the 'Harvard Prep Squad' gave out large cards to fans in the Harvard side and convinced them to hold them up after a Harvard touchdown, proudly spelling out "WE SUCK."
Quite possibly the greatest prank ever...

The linked photo is from the Naples Archeological Museum (Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli). The NYTimes photo is from the Griffith Observatory in LA. Hence they're not necessarily the same piece of stone, and the latter may be a copy of the original in Naples.
On another porn-related note, the Naples Museum is well known across the world for its beloved "Secret Room," full of sexually explicit artifacts dug up from Pompeii and other Roman sites. That, along with the awesome mosaics, are well worth the trip to Naples. Naples has a bad rap for a being unsafe (and parts of it are) but anyone going to Italy should surely go.

What are the environmental effects of this type of paint? I would think that direct exposure to this paint (i.e. with no outer layer of nontoxic / latex) would be harmful. Boatowners use copper-based paints to keep barnacles from growing on the bottom of their hulls in saltwater. Designed to flake off over time, the paint is poisonous to sealife and highly toxic to humans. How safe can this stuff be? Do we really need more harmful metals dispersed in our environment?
For what it's worth, McLean VA (home of AOL, AT&T, etc.) is also located in one of the most susceptible electricity load pockets in the nation. The regional operator is trying to install a near power line into Washington DC, but there's much local opposition to it. http://www.timescommunity.com/site/tab6.cfm?newsid =17559456&BRD=2553&PAG=461&dept_id=506105&rfi=6

But what about the Woomba? (Footnote: SNL)
Well, not really, seeing Apple's tiny market share...
Home page is way too crowded now. Switching back to yahoo.
I think this topic would serve that purpose quite well...

I'm surprised this is being sold in Japan. I know lots of lazy Americans who would snatch these up.
