There is another example of the same idea, though not dystopian like this one, written by Stephen Baxter. I believe it was Manifold Space, and in it a large group of people are voluntarily given implants which link their brains directly together in sort of an organic beowulf cluster. Good reading.
"Microsoft has really never innovated but instead looked around at what was successful and duplicated it. The problem is, they often then bury the innovator in doing so"
The problem is, I think they can keep doing this. There will always be an upstart small company with a good idea, which, when proven successful, will be bought out or forced out of business by Microsoft. They've been doing this for years, and they're really, really good at it.
....was a military targeting device. If you could calibrate a device to fire a computer-controlled gun at whatever the operator was looking directly at... well, that's kind of scary.
There is a similar situation with the "Disk Doctor", "DVD Doctor", "Game Doctor", etc. These products, once you read the manual, readily admit that they are all identical CD cleaning kits. I guess that people will pay more money for a product that they feel is specialized to their exact needs, than for one that is general-purpose and might work just as well.
Actually, I think it's 40 rods to the hogshead, which is a valid measurement. According to Google, it's 1/8 of a mile (40 rods) per 63 gallons (hogshead)
That ain't two words, that's three!

The American sense of humour eludes me. I think it is because it's ... not funny
Two words.... Benny Hill.
Anyone else notice that the phrase on the loading screen is:
"A parody of Woody Guthrie's This Land"?
Unless JibJab was intentionally trying to falsify their information, it seems like they're not doing anything wrong.
"A study by EarthLink found that the average user has 28 spyware programs on their computer!"
:P
No, the average EarthLink user has 28 spyware programs on their computer
...but I was horrified by the AOL ads! Boycott now!!
