    Not true. Talking on the phone is dangerous, but not talking to passengers. The reason for this is that passengers shut up or notice if something weird is going on, while someone talking on the phone with you will not. This creates a division of attention that slows reaction time, which is not present when talking to passengers.

    By the way, if you are parents, PLEASE don't do this, it's a horrible way to punish a child. Keep in mind that it's a full abandonment feeling, which is about as bad as a kid can get. I still think about when my parents did that to me as a kid, and I personally still haven't forgiven them for it. I can't say the same for any other punishment at that time.

    Actually, you're both wrong, the correct way to refer to an unknown person of undetermined sex is "he/she". "They" is incorrect, though it is commonly used, since it refers to a third-person plural.

    Actually, they are a youth paramilitary organization, as I was told this by my RDC (Recruit Division Commander) in the Navy. You do actually get automatic promotions upon completion of boot camp if you have attained Eagle Scout.

    I don't know how many people outside of Blighty would get this, but this is from the amazingly good BBC car show "Top Gear". Even if you aren't a car guy/gal, you owe it to yourself to give this show a watch.

    Does it run hot when you do the same thing in Windows? I.e. have you run seti@home, BOINC, or something that maxes your cpu under windows? You say it runs at 55 deg Celcius without doing anything in Linux, is this with glxgears running, or does it get hotter?

    Is it an AMD processor? If so, try out the powernowd package. I've had good luck with it in the past, but it sometimes requires some work to get it working correctly.

    The math/logic goes wrong because the expected value of a switch is (X + 2X)/2, or 1.5X. However, the expected value of staying isn't X, since you don't know what is in the envelope you still have. Staying therefore has a probability of 1.5X, just the same as the other one.

    I believe in this case that the extra energy gained from adding hydrogen and oxygen is actually because of combusting the fuel more completely. This also has the effect of reducing emissions.     Basically, the downside is increased complexity and cost, increased weight, and having to occasionally refill the water tank with highly pure water. There are real energy and emissions benefits to this, and it is being commercialized right now.

    No, they were not terrorists, who by definition inflict harm on non-military targets in order to terrorize (get it?) a population. There was no terrorism involved in the American Revolution (as far as I know), unless the tarring-and-feathering was calculated to strike fear into the hearts of sympathizers.



    Terrorism is NOT guerilla warfare, which there was plenty of then.

    FWIW, I believe the term "assault rifle" comes from the German "Sturmgewehr", sometimes recognized as the first assault rifle.
