Indeed. Such rooms are part of the standard guided tours at nuclear facilities. And you do see Cerenkov radiation with your own eyes. Of course the water is enough to shield you.
Now if he had jumped into the "pool" and took a swim, that would have been a story!
I can't think of any circumstance in which I would want to send a single message to everyone in my address book.
New Year's wishes, or similar items? Well nowadays this has more or less gone out of fashion, but back in the day when SMSes were still a novelty, people did do that.
Moving is considered a traumatic experience...for those who have not moved very often.
If you live in a town prone to flooding, maybe moving is what you need to do to put an end to the traumatic experience of having your house soaked every couple of years.
and hanging back will only cause YOU more grief in the long run.
Well, many tried moving, but their house still got soaked on the next hurricane.
What did they do wrong?
---> they just moved to the next street, when they should have moved to the next state. So, yes, do make the move, but make a real move!
People without strong financial constraints would continue to buy the incandescent bulbs, because they work better in many situations.
But incandescents (usually) don't last as long, so CFL would actually be a much better deal (unless you have bad electrical power, in which case the situation would be reversed...)
... but using electricity for heating is still a waste. Most electricity is actually produced from heat (which itself comes from a coal fire, a gas fire, a nuclear reaction,...), and it is this first conversion (from heat to electricity) that is very inefficient (due to second law of thermodynamics).
So the overall sequence is heat -> electricity -> heat, and it is wasteful due to the first step.
Better skip the intermediate step, and directly burn gas or fuel in a home furnace, rather than waste energy by using electric heating.
Actually, one great way to make power stations more energy efficient is cogeneration, i.e. to use their waste heat to heat the surrounding houses and businesses (wouldn't obviously fly for nukes, but is commonly done for gas-fired power plants).
Ok, so that means you can talk to the call center drones in your own language. It still doesn't mean that they are able, or even willing to solve your problem. Their performance goal is the same as in call centers elsewhere: get you off the phone as quickly as possible, so that they can "serve" the most customers in the least time.
But the questions was "Where Should a Geek's Charitable Donations Go?" rather than "Where Should a Foundation's Charitable Donations Go?"
So, there are plenty of entities that cannot give to political parties (businesses too are restricted to give to political parties in many countries, and for a good reason!), but that doesn't mean that as a private citizen (natural person) you can't give to parties.
The explanation on that page only works because it assumes that if you can send an FTL signal from A to B in A's frame of reference, then you can also send back a signal from B to A in B's frame of reference.
... which is not necessarily the case if you have some kind of hyperspatial tunnel, or other such construction. In that case, B might still be able to answer to A, but in A's frame of reference, and any time "gained" by sending the signal in one direction would again be "lost" sending the reply.
More importantly, you forgot that we don't have any infinite time scale to average on, because the world only exists since a finite amount of time, and will stop existing on December 21st later this year. And during this finite timespan, the southern hemisphere did have noticably more solar eclipses!
Is that it?

I'm looking forward October 29th logo...
Is that all you are able to do? Trying to intimidate people from behind a "safe" cloak of anonymity? Is that all the courage you are able to muster?
Anyone who can't distinguish between fiction and reality need to get some help, and fast.
Tell that to those fascists that want to ban cartoon depictions of underage sex.
I can't think of any circumstance in which I would want to send a single message to everyone in my address book.

Or more accurately: please enjoy a 2 week cruise in the Carribean...

I just see no point in upgrading to Windows 8. Windows 7 has been the best OS I've used in the last 20 years - and I've tried almost everything.
So, is there any particular reason why didn't you try Linux?
Now if they marketed it as a gaming and (free-)pr0n appliance rather than a general purpose PC, then maybe...
Careful about marketing it as free pr0n: the thing has a webcam, so you might end up unwittingly "producing" as much porn as you'll watch...
I'd say it's more similar to "milking" a bull...
Most CFL's nowadays are instant on. Only their color is still somewhat funny, even though this has improved too.

All electric heaters are 100% efficient.

Many systems do not allow to set blank passwords.
Ooops indeed. I just read the headline, not the summary. My bad, this is about a foundation...

The pirate parties of all countries need lots of donations to organize the upcoming elections...

Any version anywhere where you can actually understand what they are saying/yelling?
When you crack open the hard disk case, it dies. Or not.
They have digitized it for the computer. They might have also fixed the transition and jerkiness
All they published is a still image. Easy to remove the jerkiness in that case...
My canon is so big that I need a tripod to rest it on.
Why not upload it to your main PC directly? Or is the software really so smart that it blacklists any similar pictures that happen to be flying by?
